January: Abu Salem, Samir Hingoraa and Baba Chavan deliver an AK-56 assault rifle and a 9 mm pistol to Sanjay Dutt at his Pali Hill home.
March 12: Mumbai serial bombings, the world's worst urban terror attack, claims 257 lives. The bombings are blamed on the underworld and Pakistani intelligence.
A panicky Sanjay gives the AK to a friend to destroy it.
April 19: Arrested at Sahar Airport on arrival from Mauritius
