2012 saw some amazing debuts by directors which hardly seemed as if it was there first film-making venture. Between them these gifted mavericks gave us some of the best cinematic moments of this year. Here are the geniuses one by one:

This years’ edition of the Chivas Studio saw Karan Johar and Chivas presenting a short film directed by Shakun Batra, a tale of real friendship titled “Strangers in the Night”.

Remember Shaukeen? The Utpal Dutt, Ashok Kumar, and AK Hangal starrer is probably Bollywood’s only attempt to portray lecherous dirty old men on the big screen. Despite its cheesy premise, the movie, which starred Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri as well, ended up impressing the audience and is considered a cult classic.
