Anees Bazmee's Mubarakan released yesterday. The movie that stars Arjun Kapoor in twin roles, Anil Kapoor, Ileana DÇruz and Athiya Shetty in the lead, despite receiving positive reviews, has opened to poor collections on first day of its release.

According to a trade site, the movie has earned INR 5 crore on day 1. The collections are poor keeping in mind the scale of its release and the reviews it has received. Given its content, the film should have atleast got better collections in Delhi and Punjab. However, that hasn't happened.

However, the film is expected to perform better over the weekend because of its content. And with the content being suitable for families, it is sure to earn more over Saturday and Sunday.

Arjun Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Ileana DÇruz and Athiya Shetty have left no stone unturned in promoting their movie. Interestingly, this is the first time that Arjun Kapoor is sharing screen space with his uncle Anil Kapoor. In an interview with us, when Arjun was asked about his experience, Arjun said, "I was never intimidated primarily. If it would have been my first or second film, I would have been. The excitement to work with him was that I have earned this opportunity by working so hard from last five years to stand on the same set and work with him. My excitement was that ok I have become the person who is worth sharing the screen space with him."

He added, "I was very happy on the first day, we shot the Goggle Song first. When I did see him next to me, I was very happy and had a smile. Regardless of being my uncle, working with Anil Kapoor was one of the things on my wishlist. I have grown up admiring him so much. There was a sense of achievement in a strange way and I looked at it like this is why I became an actor. Anil Chachu, being such respectful as a co-actor and is not somebody who interferes with your process. He has faith in the director and that he will get it right and the fellow actors know what they are doing. There are conversations, where you try, experiment and rehearse."

Meanwhile, this week's second release, Madhur Bhandarkar's Indu Sarkar has fared very poorly as it could only manage to make INR 25 lakhs
