Kalank Weekend Box Office Collection: Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s love saga fails to impress the masses
Kalank starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit released on Wednesday last week. Here’s how much the movie made over the extended weekend.
One of the highly anticipated films of 2019, Kalank starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and Kunal Kemmu released on Wednesday last week instead of Friday. The reason behind that was to take advantage of the extended weekend of Good Friday, Mahavir Jayanti and Easter. Amidst the hype and the aggressive promotions, the film was off to a massive start on Wednesday. Many people flocked to the theatres with their families and friends to watch Kalank. Many fans of ‘Varia’ aka Varun and Alia went they wanted to watch them on-screen again.
However, the film received a mix response and post the first day, the business saw a drop of about 50% on day 2 itself. Over the weekend, Kalank’s box office collections were expected to grow, however that didn’t quite happen. Kalank has been doing fairly well in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi and more. However, on Saturday there was a decline in the box office collections of the Varun and Alia starrer. On Sunday, the Varun Alia starrer picked up the pace and earned around Rs 11 crores at the box office. 
Coming to the box office collection for the weekend including Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer has managed to earn Rs 31 crores in three days of the weekend. On the other hand, the overall five-day business in terms of the box office collection of Kalank till date is Rs 62.50 crores. The film might see a decline in the box office collection on Monday due to the week start. Also, one of the most highly anticipated Hollywood films, Avengers: Endgame is all set to release in theatres on April 26 and the advance booking has shattered all previous records. It will be interesting to see how Avengers: Endgame affects Kalank’s collections at the box office.
