The sangeet at the recently organised GVK Reddy wedding in Hyderabad was termed India’s most spectacular not because SRK and a host of b-town stars were there, but also because the Big B and his entire family was there. There was a lot of speculation on how much each star billed the family and one newspaper even reported that Salman Khan was offered Rs 20 crore for his presence (untrue). Here, we present to the best of our ability, how the business of inviting Bollywood stars as guests or performers to a wedding actually works, and what families shell out for a Bollywood theme sangeet.
A-league actors charge between Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore while SRK’s fee is Rs 2 crore. Sources say Akshay Kumar is the most business-savvy when it comes to negotiating, while among the actresses, it’s Katrina Kaif. The actresses fee range between Rs 30 and Rs 45 lakh. Says Wedding Planner Veena Bachani: “The three most sought-after names@ Weddings today are SRK, Salman and Katrina.”
Bachchans senior we are told are an exception in that they don’t regard ‘attending weddings’ a money-making exercise. They only attend weddings of families they are close friends with, like the GVK Reddy’s. And the presumption is that the Bachchans did not charge the Reddys any fee for their presence at the wedding. When families invite just one or two actors or actresses’ they or their Wedding Planners interact and firm up the deal with the Managers of the stars, but if they’re organizing a big bollywood extravaganza they hire the services of specialist firms like the Moranis owned Cineyug or Wizcraft who are considered the most powerful when it comes to getting the dates or the best rates of A-league stars.
Malaika Arora Khan is one of the most sought-after entertainers @ destination weddings in popular locales like Bali, Thailand and Goa. Source say pre Dabanng, Malaika charged Rs 5-6 lakh, and now her fee is around Rs 12 lakh. Besides flying down Malaika in business class and arranging for her stay at a suite, there are the costs of flying down her troupe—manager, choreographer, makeup artist and sometimes a dance troupe, and their fees. Sophie Chowdhary who charges around Rs 3.5 lakh is also popular and so is Yana Gupta.
While the not in the A-league actors/ actresses charge between Rs 3 and 5 lakh, other actresses like Mehak Chahal, Shveta Salve, Mona Singh, are quite popular at the grand yet not grandest destination weddings. They usually charge around Rs 1.5 lakh. But as Veena Bachani informs us the star fees is just a percentage of the spends @ the sangeet. When there is a big sangeet and performances by Bollywood stars there are several other costs like choreography, decor & stage, compere, DJ, music & sound, dancers and lighting—and the typical budget at a big, fat sangeet (not including the venues, food or an international act) hovers around Rs 50 lakh!

LOL......Aish refuse to endorse creams but she doesn't seem to have problem to fair herself at magazines photos(remember Vogue) and endorse herself as whiter than the whites .....isn't that indirect fairness endorsing?? Don't forget million of Indian women read the magazines and get influenced by celeb pics.

Right coming to the point I would never want a celebrity performing at my marriage no matter how big of a star they are as I believe marriage is a private affair and you somehow cheapen urself by doing so. (sorry no offence just my opinion!)
Also I lose respect for the stars who do that, I am a huge SRK fan but when I heard that he also lends his name and dances around at others wedding I somehow cannot get myself to respect him int he same way though of course he's a fab actor on screen but I just can't see him the same way now.

That would be pretty cool to have SRK perform at my wedding. It would always be remembered, but it still isn't worth the money for me. I would much rather put the money into a long honeymoon or an extravagant wedding dress. Either those things or a house. It depends how much money I have when I get older, but my family would KILL ME if I spent that much money just for SRK to perform.

THe Bachhans may not be the nicest people in the business and are very good at managing their celebrity status. However they are a league above the rest. Amitabh has never been paid to dance at a wedding. Everyone said that they sold the rights to Abhi ASh wedding to Hello for millions of dollars, and I am sure they could have cashed in very well, but they did not. YOu forget who Bachans father was. Their cultural background does not compare with others. And Ash may be a wooden actress, I never liked her, but she is the only Bollywood actress to refuse to endorse fairness creams, no doubt under the Bachan influence. May be that is why people hate them so much, they behave like they are better than others.

Wow srk do anything for money. I was so shocked that Bachchans went to the wedding... my respect had gone down but now it's a relief that they went as friends and didn't exchange any money for attending a function - RESPECT.
Money cant make people sophisticated, money can make people rich like srk, akshay etc.

I didn't know that the Bachhan family had been at the event at all till now.. I saw so many pics of the GVK wedding and not once had they been captured. It was a big event coz SRK was there, and because SRK was there, Priyanka and Anushka were there..

Wedding is the most special day for a woman and the day she will get maximum attention. Why would you want someone else to hog that attention and limelight away from you? If people want to see celebs dance/perform they can just go the dime a dozen star shows. Don't want my wedding day to turn into a circus.

I don't think I would want such a big celebrity at my wedding.. it'll take all the attention away from you! I wouldn't want to pay so much money to have people gush over a celeb while they should be staring and gushing over my beautiful face! Lol... jk jk (I'm not that full of myself... only a little.. haha). I would rather get a singer to come to my wedding that I knew a majority of my guests would enjoy (I would get RDB because I am a Punjabi Sikh and most of the people at my wedding would be too.. RDB sings in Punjabi but are modern and unique with their music so that would make my guests and mainly ME happy lol). And then I would tell them to leave after their segment so the guests could go back to giving me all the attention. LOL.
