'Gangs Of Wasseypur' and 'Teri Meri Kahaani' : high expectations, low performance.
Though these movies released on the same day - June 22, 2012, they were expected to co-exist as they are of completely different genres. However, while Gangs Of Wasseypur is trying hard to keep afloat, 'Teri Meri Kahaani' seems to have almost sunk. Gangs Of Wasseypur was aimed at the massed with its crude language and mass-appealing moments.However, the audiences stayed away. Was it because of the excessive use of cuss words? or the absence of a notable star?... Teri Meri Kahaani saw a lot of promotions. Priyanka and Shahid were everywhere. Also, they are without denial two of the hottest stars in Bollywood. However, the overall performance is still not good. TERI MERI KAHAANI has been sold for a high price to Wave and the distributor is sure to lose a chunk of his investment thanks to its non-performance. However, as per Taran Adarsh, GANGS OF WASSEYPUR has a reasonable price tag attached to it and it should not be difficult for the producers to recover the cost. Bad week for the Industry? Wondering how the next release, Bol Bachchan will fare?

Honestly, I think easy rom-com movies like Teri Meri Kahaani aren't being much appreciated by Indian audiences because all they want these days are meaningless action and masala films like Bodyguard, Ra. One, etc. All the action in these movies shouldn't even be called 'action', because it all looks so fake and crappy. People overseas who are more familiar with Hollywood and occasionally watch Bollywood notice how lame these action/masala films (that are making +100 crores) actually are. Also, any film that has the name of a Khan in it (especially Salman Khan), automatically becomes a blockbuster. Though, do we really know what a blockbuster means? Not necessarily does it mean that the movie was amazing, it simply means that the audiences who watched it were a lot. And personally, I never count on a critic's review because I know personal tastes always differ. I absolutely hate action movies, but there sure are millions of other people out there who love them. Teri Meri Kahaani was actually a success/hit in foreign markets and has been appreciated by most of its foreign audiences. I liked Teri Meri Kahaani and I thought it was like a breath of fresh air in the Hindi film industry after a VERY long while.

Story of tri meri kahaani was not at all good but yes I would like to appreciate Priyanka for her performance. She did it very well N thats why she is still best in acting !
Farnkly PC is most overrated actress, she can not ACT! Wonder why people call her actress, only Fashion was successful rest all are flops, I was never impressed by her..
I do agree with you guys, when you see stars bending over to promote their films then we know for sure its not a good film...this trend started out with Tees Maar Khan and Ra.One.

Gangs of Wasseypur was actually a good movie. Indian audience just wants good looking actors, doesnt matter hw they act. Everyone performed really well, the dialouges were really good. And TMK was meant to be a flop, trailers se hi pata chal gaya.
I have not watched these movies :) lol, I was going to watch TMK, but then you guys helped me to save my money.
I do NOT expect from these movies anymore. From a long time I am not watching BW movies, except Rockstar, Dirty Picture, Kaahani, I never waste my money in foolish movies. I like PC! I find a charm in her acting, I see passion in her, but both Shahid & PC are not putting their 100% into movies recently. I won't say it's their fault either! Some directors are coming up with the worst stories ever! Or giving such bad direction, that potential actors cannot act as good as they should! Thus, not doing justice to their ability!
I am sure that Heroine is not gonna do AS WELL AS EXPECTED. I am sure its going to be an overrated movie with lots of pre-hype, tht too bcoz of Aishwarya! The story of heroine relates so much to fashion & the dirty picture, you can tell the whole movie's story through the stills.

A struggling actress -- FAMOUS -- TOO FAMOUS -- Career gets slow -- slowly Declines -- Depression :P
in between there will be -- Bfs, gay fashion designers, etc.
I am hopeless from these movies now! Same stories are getting repeated! It seems like directors are running out of stories or what!? If they are,,,then they should come to me,,,, I CAN OFFER THEM BETTER STORIES :P..SERIOUSLY!
I won't see anything with PC in it and I've heard the same from other people so that kills off a certain section of the audience right there. I've heard mixed things about the film itself. Some liked it, some found it dull but not having seen it I can't say. I usually like reincarnation films so had they cast someone other than PC I might have liked it.
i went into TMK with very low expectations and so was mildly surprised. it wasn't as bad as i expected and don't know whether it deserved the vitriol it received. However, indeed the film has no story, its all gloss and no content.
And i am just so OVER PC. Is it just me or does it feel like she is ALWAYS in the public eye? she is always promoting something or the other (a movie, a show, a product etc) her acting has been completely overrated since her turn in Fashion. I have PC fatigue. She needs to work less, step away from the public eye and then re-emerge to stay relevant.
As for Shahid, his acting (both in the film and in promotions) was so self assured and cocky that it was completely unattractive. It doesn't suit him at all, particuarly when the audience knows he is in DESPERATE need of a hit.
The international promotional run for this movie must have been exhausting and expensive. They must be so disappointed.
Pakao actors in Tmk, PC sucked at acting. Like someone mentioned fans of these actors will praise it only for loyalty purposes. Only they pretend to love it. Trash tanked. No surprises there. Agneepath got lucky she had a mere cameo or else it would have tanked too with her frozen face doing overacting. Flop actress! Overhype and aggressive promotions failed too, public is not stupid.
I don't wanna watch Bol Bachchan at all. Looks horribleee!
Oh, another reason why TMK bombed can also be the factor that this time round, Kunal Kohli decided to be the jack of all trades and master at none by not only directing but writing the story, dialogues, and producing it too. LOL. His previous to films had others involved in those departments.
No wonder it bombed.
Not surprised about TMK. Watched it, and was sooooooo bored and disappointed. There wasn't really any story, just the typical cliche stuff. I have watched and enjoyed other mindless stuff before but this wasn't really that entertaining. waste of $$$ i suggest, watch it on dvd if u're very curious. Shahid was really good in his three roles, the 2012 bit was nothing exceptional though. PC was okay.
Quite surprised the director who made FANAA & HUMTUM made this dud of a film. Felt choppy and really disappointing. Not being a hater but I'm just telling it like it is. FANS OF the stars may love it cause of their 'loyalty issues' but other than that. TIME PASS.
GOW yet to watch but my close friends who have seen it, have highly recommended it. For this genre of films, you have to have a taste and appetite for raw stuff. So understandable. But I wouldn't be surprised if it still makes profit with word of mouth.
I thoroughly enjoyed Gangs Of Wasseypur. Can't wait for Part 2
