Hollywood movies I would like to see in Hindi
Movies
News
Star Kids
No Makeup

Though I am not related to the entertainment industry in anyway, I have always believed that I would do a good job directing a movie with star cast of my choice:-) There would be no cheesy lines, no jumping back and forth between Swiss Alps and Mumbai in a matter of a heartbeat, no glamor doll heroine standing there looking pretty for absolutely no reason what so ever, while still preserving the essence of Bollywood . Thankfully, there are a bunch of new Bollywood directors, who have gone ahead and made some wonderful movies, both immensely watchable and somewhat successful commercially. Wake Up Sid, Rocket Singh, Tere Bin Laden etc come to mind.
Everyone knows that Bollywood steals blatantly from western movies and world music, without bothering about small stuffs such as intellectual property rights and credits.

There are a few Hollywood movies I would like to see made in Hindi, with proper credits and all. Karan Johar take notice ;-)

1. Venus, starring Peter O'Toole.

Somehow I believed I would make this movie one day with yours truly and Dev Anand as the leading star cast, before Dev Anand's death. I know, silly me. I am not a star kid, who is going to launch me?
It is a complex movie, in which O'Toole plays an old actor of yore who is ravaged by cancer. Enter Jessie, a trouble maker and an aspiring model. Their interaction throughout the movie is interesting, heartwarming, heartbreaking and uncomfortable. Now that Dev Saab is gone, I would like to see Amitabh Bachchan and some really talented nineteen/twenty year old, who is NOT a star kid, do this movie together, directed by one of the new young directors who can make this rather depressing subject fun (in an ironic way) and watchable. May be Anushka Sharma will do as Jessie.

2. Something's Gotta Give, starring Jack Nicholson & Diane Keaton

Its a light hearted comedy and you gotta love Jack Nicholson. If you have not seen it already, it is a war of the sexes. Nicholson is a jackass who dates only younger women and Keaton is a successful novelist/playwright who is too afraid to let the hair down. They meet through her daughter who is dating Nicholson, and then one comic incident after another they fall in love.
My cast of choice: Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, one could only wish ! If not possible, then Zeenat and Amitabh. Zeenat would be wonderful as a society personality/successful writer and AB Sr is just good at anything.

3. How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying: Starring Robert Morse

It is the title of a best selling book from the 50's, has been adapted on screen (1967) and Broadway (many times) and is an absolute delight to watch. The title is pretty self explanatory. If you have access to Netflix, watch it on instant streaming if you have not already. I would love to see a good Hindi version of it starring Ranbir Kapoor. Only that lad can do justice to this goof-ball of a movie.

4. Ghostbusters, starring the lovable Bill Murray

This 80's comedy is a classic. In my opinion, nobody has a better sarcastic comic timing than Bill Murray. If you have not seen this movie, then you are missing something; it's pure gooey, slimy fun. Bill Murray and friends come up with a device to catch ghosts, thus trying to get rid of supernatural presence from New York City, but somehow things backfire and land them in a slimy mess.
I would have loved to see a young Amitabh in it. But I will settle for Akshay Kumar. Irfaan Khan would be my supporting cast of choice along with Vidya Balan as Dana Barret.

5. Le Dîner de Cons, starring Thierry Lhermitte

Though not a Hollywood movie, it is a movie mentioning nonetheless.
Le Diner de Cons is a 1998 French comedy, which can be translated as Dinner for Idiots. A goof ball of a movie in which some smart asses hold weekly dinner where they bring a guest. The condition is the guest has to be as stupid as possible. It is a situation comedy. If made in Hindi, the movie can very well use the talents of Boman Irani, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav as the "guest".

What do you guys think? Share your thought please.

XOXO

most of these film recommendations are very 'elite' or for a very select audience.
almost none being of the genre that Karan Johar or his elk are likely to remake.

the only hw movies that should be remade (and i think Kjo's Stepmom adaptation proved this 100%) is stories/movies that would benefit from indian-isation.

Stepmom did not need to be remade in Hindi. It was set outside India, even the title was english and it had basically no traditional indian values. why did it need to be remade?

i agree ...its will flops
Something's Gotta Give.....no one want to see old man dating a girl then love her mother !!!
when we see it in american movie it dose not bother us ...but in Indian movie it will be disgusting

i am thinking like you mila (I have always believed that I would do a good job directing a movie with star cast of my choice:-)

I think My Best Friend's Wedding will be nice and its not require a young actress ....prity zinta will be great
and if it was well made it will be hit ...you know Indians loves weddings..
Chicago..if i could make it will be about Bollywood how the cruel and dirty things handles in an ironic ways
it will be musical .black comedy .
perverts Producers , arrogant actors ,malicious Actresses . pervert arrogant malicious Directors (nepotism.sex .money )and how all acts like Saints...

Bollywood should make a Freaky Friday with SriDevi and Sonam Kapoor.

Sreedevi in Devil Wears Prada 100%
Anybody has seen Laadla knows how perfectly she can play Miranda.
She has it all for this role and it is age appropriate too.

Be Kind Rewind: "Two bumbling store clerks inadvertently erase the footage from all of the tapes in their video rental store. In order to keep the business running, they re-shoot every film in the store with their own camera, with a budget of zero dollars."---IMDB This movie is really hilarious and if they remade this in Hindi it would give the fillmaker the opportunity to "remake" a whole mixed bag of different titles. I thought of this movie after seeing Mila's suggestion of Ghostbusters (that was one of the movies they "remade" in it. LOL) Dunno who should star it it but it would be really funny remade in Hindi for sure!

Mirror Mirror: A take on Snow White. With Aishwarya in Julia Roberts role (The Queen) and Sneha Ullal in Lily Collins' role (Snow)... that would be pretty awesome I think! :) And it even has a Bollywood song and dance ending!

For me its Devil Wears The Prada with none other than Sridevi.

One Day - it's a romantic flick that shows the journey from friendship to love through various ups and downs in life stages. It starred Anne Hathaway and Jim Sterguss. For Hathaway's role, I would opt for Kareena Kapoor (she can be both serious and funny which the film demands) and for Sterguss's role, I would either go for Hrithik Roshan or Abhay Deol (men who have a quirky sense of humour).

Unlike the mainstream romantic films in hollywood, this one was different and brilliantly portrayed with both happy and sad sentiments.

The tourist - starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie should be remade and the Bollywood version should have Hrithik and Ash as the stars.

27 dresses with Katherine Heigl and Jame Marsden( he is too cute) Bollywood version should be with Priyanka or Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor or Imran Khan.

I would love to see The Devil Wears The Prada and The Iron Lady in Hindi with SriDevi as the lead in both the films.

Do not need to see any hollywood movies remade in bollywood. I mean, what is the point of it ? I'd rather see an original .

Bollywood, except for a few director's like Anurag Kashyap, Dibarkar Bannerjee, Zoya Akhtar, makes stupid films filled with cheap item numbers and people who overact. I like watching it as a mindless time pass, but no way would I would Bollywood to gets it's filthy hands on the classics from abroad and ruin them: For example, imagine Something's Gotta Give was remade today, is is what would happen:

The lead actor would be a 40 plus uncle. In Diane Keaton's role, a good actress with comedic timing is required, but instead they will cast some American or Australian model who cannot act, does not have comedic timing, looks out of place trying to be Indian and looks like the daughter of the hero. Then they will further defile the movie by including some Bhojpuri style disgusting item numbers for no reason. All of the witty, smart jokes will be dumbed down and reduced to juvenile humour. Basically they will take everything good about the film and destroy it. No thanks.

The difference between adapting a movie by actually purchasing the copyright to a story and just plain old stealing is like difference between night and day. What I am talking about here is something Hollywood does, like buying the copyright of Japanese version of Grudge and making a cooler English movie out of it. I am strictly against stealing. What SLB and almost any other Bollywood producer/director does is STEAL.

Le diner des cons has already been made in hindi - Bheja Fry. If u havent watched it, do!! No cheesiness or unrealistic switch of locales. Absolutely hilarious! But i'd say give the sequel a miss. Terribly disappointing!

What the hell?! When there are films that are inspired from other films you guys talk so much crap that the makers just copy and now you create a thread that justifies it!
