The music that plays in the Jab Tak Hai Jaan Theatrical Trailer seems to be inspired/copied from Gustavo Santaolalla's music score from The Motorcycle Diaries.
Have a listen, what do you guys think?

Yes it does

well a very teeny bit, and that too when we pinned our ears to find the even the most frail similarity, totally different in my opinion

Anonymous's picture

Sounds Some what similar but A.R.RAHMAN sir cant be a plagiarist. Nice observation

Anonymous's picture

The music is an exact copy!!!! I am a professional musician and i believe any other professional musician can make it out easily too!! Rahman has used the exact same chord progression and amazingly even the background music is the same!!! What a shame Mr.Rahman!!! We expect better of you...since you are the "Oscar" musician of our country!! Huh!!

Anonymous's picture

A R Rahman will never copy.he is the original music director ever in bwood industry

Anonymous's picture

The only similarity is the use of the same instrument which is rare to be used anyway and that the music was slow then raised, but no more, both musics are in complete opposite directions, listen without considering in your minds that shahrukh khan is the hero of that movie,be fair

Anonymous's picture

I am a musician but I don't find any copying thing here it just coincident nothing else........

Anonymous's picture

shahrukh fans and normal public,I know you do not find any similarity between both musics and you feel surprised of some comments here, but just know it no use of speaking with haters, enough evidence the comments like this movie is joke and comments about sos,do not care, just enjoy the music

I have been a big fan of A R Rahman for years but I have also been a great admirer of Gustavos work since listening to the motorcycle diaries soundtracks. I have listened to the motorcycle diaries soundtrack a thousand times and I was disappointed with Rahman because as soon as I saw this trailer I knew this track was copied from the Gustavos work. Rahman has just added a few notes but the basic theme is the same and the thumping electric guitar at the end just confirmed that this wasnt an original

Anonymous's picture

Similar feel and rhythm, but NOT at all.copied.....melody is different and chord progressions are different, but the waltz like 6/8 time signatures are very close. Thats it. Rahman may recycle his own stuff, be does NOT downright lift!

I saw Motorcycle Diaries a while a ago and was just thinking yesterday that JTHJ trailer music REALLY reminded me of something but I couldn't put my finger on it. THIS IS IT! It is copied!! Too similar to be a coincidence.

really, try to clean your eyes,I heard this music as soon as it was released and still find no similarity, public are not fools ok,just know it,I accept all versions but when some one tries to fool me,I refuse ofcourse

Anonymous's picture

The trailer of jthj released after the trailer of SOS and guess what... They copied THAT as well!!! In SOS trailer there is the voice of away devgun in the background narrating lines as he would a poem or sher.. And then the title track plays "son of sardaar son of sardaar"
Jthj has done the exact same thing... Srk's voice in the background reciting poem and then "jab tak hai Jaan, jab tak hai jaan"
These people r so desperate to overshadow SOS that they r copying everything and anything.

this film is a joke

Jesus what a nonsense!

So copied! :(

Anonymous's picture

I think that we have ears too,not any one says right then we go right, left then go left,no similarity at all,at all ,I mean that, even if you asked the composer of the other song he will tell the same,me too heard this music before but it is not the same

Anonymous's picture

Guys who posted for our opinion..get your ears checked..jst coz two differrent ppl in two diff movies rides motorcycle or two musicians uses the same instrument makes you feel it is copied is truly nt called for..so pls stop -ve publicity.

Anonymous's picture

COPIED !

Anonymous's picture

U MUST BE KIDDING ME, THIS DOES NOT SOUND SIMILAR! Those who don't understand music and its instruments may think it is, but its def different tune altogether!

Anonymous's picture

Do any of you even understand music?, there is nothing in common with the soundtrack of "the motorcycle diaries" and this background track for this hindi film of SRK i dont really care about. The Musical arrangement uses a similar instrument in the beginning for both and then its chalk and cheese.
Dont go about reproducing posts of other ignoramuses.

Even if it is, why make a hu haa out of it. Even Ek Tha Tiger had Casino Royale moments in it. Infact the first scene itself, the chase is the same as Casino Royale. But Yash Raj would still have it's own story.

Anonymous's picture

Now haters have sensed that the music will be epic like the movie itself so they are trying to sabotage it, bad luck, cause you won't succeed!!!

Yep. Totally lifted. I have the Motorcycle Diaries Soundtrack at home, and have listened to it like a million times. It is one of my absolute favourites.

The beginning riff is the SAME. (Up till :18). The base is almost exactly the same, just extended. Rahman adds violins I think around 1:00. But, basically, it is the same.

He has done this before. The Latika's theme song from Slumdog Millionaire is very similar to Pan Labyrinth's lullaby. (Go listen to them on YouTube.)

I love Rahman's music, but I can't deny the similarity. Disappointing.

SRK IS BACK EVERYONE. WATCH OUT!
