Kareena Kapoor as queen Arundhati in the Hindi remake of Telugu hit ‘Arundhati’
“I am excited to do this that had importance for the female character.” - Kareena Kapoor She is already shooting for a challenging role in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Heroine, and now Kareena Kapoor has bagged the role of queen Arundhati in the Hindi remake of 2009 Telugu blockbuster Arundhati. The Telugu Arundhati was one of its kind women-centric film set in the ancient times with awe-inspiring graphics and technology. It was also Telugu cinema’s biggest blockbuster. The movie’s super success made Anushka Shetty the top heroine of Telugu films. It’s said that many top actresses like Katrina Kaif and Rani Mukherjee were in the race to essay the role of queen Arundhati who kills a devil played by Sonu Sood, but the role has finally gone to Kareena Kapoor. In fact, Sonu Sood will play the villain in the Hindi version as well. Gemini Film Circuit has acquired the Hindi remake rights of the film Arundhati and wants to give the same grand feel to the Bollywood version. Speaking about the role, Kareena Kapoor says, “I am excited to do this that had importance for the female character.” Arundhati is an action thriller with a few gory scenes as well. Anushka Shetty excelled in the character of Arundhati which got her Filmfare Best Actress Award of the year, and also won praises galore. So not only our Bollywood actors are keen on starring in South remakes, our actresses too have shown their inclination. Arundhati was a blockbuster; will the Hindi remake do justice to the original? When it comes to Kareena Kapoor, we are sure she will look beautiful as the fierce queen on big screen

this movie is set in Olden days .
Please take Indians with good classical dance movements and also classic beauty like anushka and not 'mixed breed' like Kareena or katrina for thier star value.PLEASE.......................

Kareena seems hard working but I dont think she is the best actress out there. I think Vidya Balan would have been the ideal choice for this role.
arundhati is a very power packing performance movie. Kareena would need extra training/practice for this one to perfect the role. you can't just give an good performance to a remake of a movie which grossed over 30 crores. she would have to give exemplary performance to match the impact it created in the south.
This would have been easy for aishwariya, rani, vidhya, MADHURI ( if she was a little younger), karishma.
vidya/ rani cud have pulled off the role, so cud have pc since shes a strong actor too, but the point is that this went to kareena, ppl get over who was offered the role first, i loved that part in ra1 where kareena was possessed and i think she will do great in this too, it was a scary movie, besides i like kareena in such roles, she pulls them off with ease, most likely cuz her real personality comes out:p
i think vidhya balan wud be a good choice . she was awesome in bhool bhulaiya !!
I'm sure the only reason Kareena was chosen because of her star power...if not they could have easily gotten somewhere better for the role. But hey...I just hope she does justice to the role!

anushka shetty is an ethereal indian beauty.While kareeena is a hybrid.Both are beautiful in thier own way BUT to play a century old character.And at times kareena goes overboard likr the train scene n Ra.one

Aishwarya was the first choice for the role. She was approached in 2010. Read on google! Heroine, SLB's next and now this. Looks like Kareena wants to be the next Ash!

I think madhuri Dixit would have been the best choice for this role, had she been a little younger she would be perfect. Now Rani and vidya can play the role well. Kareena is just OK.
Yay more overacting by Karena Kapoor. Arundathi is an OK movie but a lilt cliched. Saving grace is Anushka, esp as Jejama. Karena will overact. Can I have some Vidya Balan for this role please.
