Priyanka Chopra thanks Shahrukh Khan for Barfi!
Barfi! has been getting fantastic reviews and the performances of Ranbir Kapoor & Priyanka Chopra have been lauded by critics and fans alike. Priyanka plays a autistic girl in Barfi! An elated Priyanka Chopra took to Twitter to thank everyone who helped her in this performance. One such mention was for Mr. Shahrukh Khan. Priyanka tweeted, "Also thank u @iamsrk for lending me all ur my name is Khan research, u gave me perspective on Jhilmil..owe u another one..love always". Shahrukh Khan's character Rizwan Khan in My Name Is Khan suffered from Asperger's Syndrome, a form of Autism. P.S: Has anyone here watched Barfi! ? I watched it last night. The movie moved at a sluggish pace but was heartwarming. Definetely worth a watch. It will make you think what's important in life :). Hats off to Priyanka & Ranbir for having taken up this movie. Ilean was a breath of fresh air. Overall loved all the three in the movie. And Anuraag Basu, Thank You:)

It's always Priyanka followed SRK on Twitter. Whenever SRK tweets, she shows up. It`s her intention, SHE do not want to end rumors. Shameless person!
you know what, i would like to see her actually some out and deny all the rumers.
i mean kristen stewart and robert pattinson have always been in the rumer mill too and they never talked about it with the media because they said it would devalue their relationship. but i don't think its worth all the headache of them tolerating it you know?they should just shut the rumers down as they come up.........

Yes, you got it. I think her name was Makenzie Phillips.
It was a lot worse than the Mallika Sherwat episode because a) Mallika was just being Mallika and b) she wasn't actually friends/peers with Amitabh Bachchan and was talking from a point of a view of a fan. PC did that episode after years of professional association and friendship with SRK, it was distasteful to say the least.

It definitely did make me wanna throw something at my screen and that aired before all this drama even began, back when the question was whether or not she is dating Shahid Kapoor. I saw Vidya doing a similar (not entirely as annoying) routine a few times too and I was like 'WHY'? These actresses are his peers, they work with him! Liking/admiring/fangirling/being star stuck is one thing but the whole blushing at the mention of his name and being unnecessarily coy is ridiculous behavior and it must be stopped!

@Nabby the media link-ups and labeling happens in Hollywood too. The only thing is with Hollywood, the media usually has proof. Look a Kristen Stewart. Look at Leann Rimes. Look at Angelina Jolie. The worst part with Angelina is that she actually followed through with her own infamous femme-fatale. When Billy Bob-Thornton met her he was married to Laura Dern before you could say what he was with Angelina. When Brad Pitt met her, he was with Jennifer Aniston before you could say what he was with Angelina. Kate Winslet went to a private Island (owned by Virgin CEO Richard Branson) on vacation with her then model boyfriend, a fire broke out and by the time the ordeal was over, Kate went home with a new man, her current boyfriend Ned Rocknroll, Branson's nephew...all this while she was going through divorce from her 2nd husband Sam Mendes. Halle Berry found out that her then husband Eric Benet was cheating on her while she was reading The National Enquirer. I live in America so I know that Bollywood is child's play compared to what goes on in Hollywood and what is considered acceptable culture. In Hollywood, Priyanka and her current rumours would be considered angelic, not unless video proof or pictures of these alleged affairs pop up somehow.
Re Salman Khan: PC said that the media deliberately chose to isolate her and Sallu and take pictures of them only when there were several other people there that night. She cared to clarify that. SMH.
Re Akshay Kumar: I can comment because I really liked PC when she first came out and the fact that she was a Miss World like Aish kept me interested in seeing how her career would pan out and when the Akki rumours surfaced the media even said that Twinkle moved out and that's when PC removed herself from the equation. I remember when she even gave public statements saying how she will no longer appear in films with him and asked the media to respect the privacy of the married couple and their young son.
Re SRK: She said and I quote "Me denying the rumours will not make them untrue." SMH.

@Mystic Rose, completely my thoughts! thanks for that! That was really irritating and I remember watching that episode couple of years ago. Unnecessary. Sometimes, I think that was for just entertainment's sake because you cannot STILL be star-struck by someone who you've already worked with couple of times and probably meet up with every other month. The novelty must have worn off by then.
However, this annoying-little-act of hers should not speak for her work or be the reason behind disliking her work which "blind-audiences" often do.

@Voiceswriter, I think the problem here is Priyanka's friendliness becomes over-friendliness after a certain point and coming from bollywood where the Indian media is waiting for something to happen, they obviously take it some next level and the low-life mass audience makes it worse. I can't comment on the Akshay-fiasco since I wasn't following it to the tee at the time, but it's almost disheartening to see how the media works. For instance, if Salman is seen hanging out with Karishma at midnight, I won't be surprised at the next day's entertainment headlines that will link them up. Their friendship that dates back to the 80s where they've worked on a number of movies and belong to the same fraternity is completely forgotten.
I think Priyanka needs to tone down her friendliness with anyone (she should've learned the tricks of the trade by now) as well as, the media needs to stop blasphem-izing (not a word, but you get the word) everything that these people do although, I don't see the latter happening. The media lives off of such stories.

Regarding the Akshay Kumar thing, not all friendships are equally important. Maybe she felt that friendship was expendable and wasn't worth the drama but this one isn't?
@MysticRose I've never seen any of her KWK episodes and I strongly doubt that I should at this point because the last thing I need to see right now is PC behaving in a way that would make me want to throw my Thor's hammer at her.

@Voiceswriter, who knows what's going on in her head. As far as we can see, she isn't "hanging out" with Shahrukh or anyone closely associated with him. Barfi! shooting started a while ago, may be even before these rumours were all going crazy and she felt the need to express her appreciation for everyone who's helped her/liked her performance. Sigh.... even after all thee years, if she's seen with Akshay, I'm sure the certain section of really narrow minded people who dissect everything not because it makes sense logically but because this is some sort of entertainment for themselves will come out with more theories and have the rumour mills churning. I'm sure you've noticed a good number of them right here on PV.

The truth will come out eventually, nothing stays hidden under the sun. I really don't care, it's just that the news is irritating and hard to ignore. If PC is truly blameless in all of the horrid rumours that have dogged her since she entered Bollywood, none of it will follow her or re-surface in Hollywood. But if she begins to appear in the National Enquirer or Star Magazine or TMZ with rumours about her and Akon (don't try it, he has 3 wives), Jay Z (Beyonce will smack you) or Chris Martin (Gwyneth is gangsta' & has even more gangsta' friends) all bets are off.

I see where you are coming from but PC must be that secure in her friendship with SRK that she believes it doesn't matter what the public perception of their relationship is. Either that or she is making a point to continue being friends with him regardless of what people think of them, like a taking a defiant stand if you know what I mean.
I don't think this tweet in particular is controversial but I what I really want her to stop doing is that 'schoolgirl with a crush' routine she was doing on the KWK episode; that is not dignified behavior any way you cut it.

Her entire response to SRK is narrated above and other portals as well. She thanked him for lendouing his research done as an "autistic" person for My Name Is Khan to her for her character in Barfi! I don't think it's any sort of "cryptic" message. Don't take it the wrong way but people are over-analyzing it I'm sure everyone on Pinkvilla, even the people who analyze things beyond necessary would agree with me.

@when i saw PC in barfi i feel like SRK and her are like soul mates beyond friendship and love. They connect through movie. had gauri not been in SRK's life i am sure PC would have made it. They both share the same passion for cinema and with life in general.
