Imtiaz Ali's much awaited Rockstar starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri releases this Friday. Let's catch all the reviews from noted movie critics here. Taran Adarsh 3/5 On the whole, ROCKSTAR does not live up to the confidence and expectations from the otherwise very skilled and accomplished film-maker Imtiaz Ali. The film suffers immensely due to a disorderly screenplay, especially in its post-interval portions. However, the silver lining or the comforting prospect is the virtuoso performance by Ranbir Kapoor and the captivating score by A.R. Rahman, which justify that one extra star. NDTV 2.5/5 When did you last see a full-on Mumbai musical that sang about the birds that have flown away never to return to the concrete jungles that our cities have become and then connects the fate of these winged creatures to that of all uprooted and oppressed people? Rockstar has a Sufi soul. If only it had been set free and allowed to go the whole hog! rediff 2.5/5 Again, that amounts to nitpicking in Bollywood, but in a movie that takes care to show the guitarist's pedal board, Fender amplifiers and the singer's in-ear stage monitors, that is just funny. In a country obsessed with watching some movie or the other every weekend (that's what people do, right? Go to malls and/or watch a film), Rockstar is what is called a one-time watch. Just don't expect too much. Times Of India 4/5 Savour a beautiful experience. Watch Rockstar and wait for Imtiaz Ali's next from his compendium of love. Aniruddha Guha from DNA Daily Bhaskar 3/5 3 Ups and 3 Downs: Power-packed performances especially Ranbir Kapoor for whom this movie will surely prove to be milestone, hilarious and some intense dialogues, cinematography and music are the strengths. Totally clattered post interval sequences, non-crisp editing and screenplay are the drawbacks. Overall, Rockstar is a one-time watch and worth a treat for both fans and non-fans of Ranbir Kapoor who does justice to his character at every moment in the film. Excellent movie, though it does have many flaws but at the end u feel how Jordan who in the beginning said he doesnt have any dard in his life ,,,has lead all dard bahri life and then he became what he wants but from inside is all alone ...touching movie
Literally i cannot express my feelings in words after watching this great movie. Ranbir was just fantastic, awesome adopted the role fantastically and just............. I am now a big fan of Ranbir just because of this movie. Marvellously crafted movie ever created by indian cinema before. Just fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just wanted to SLAP Nargis throughout the movie! God katrina 2.0.

I saw the film. The first half was amazing! Second half was not bad. Few glitches here and there. Overall I liked it. AR Rehman's music was the best part of the movie. Ranbir was good. Nargis was really bad. Film could have been better with a better casting. But it is not fair to Nargis because it was her first film.
I would give this film a 3/5 rating. Imtiaz Ali's Socha Na Tha remains his best work.

The censors went overboard this time I feel!
After watching Rockstar I felt there r two kinds of people , one who loves Rockstar, feel Jordan and one who can't able to understand/feel Rockstar. I'm speechless what a performance by Ranbir, no one can do better than him. Nargis is far better than sonam, deepika and katrina. Whatever critics r said, I think it is the best film by Imtiaz, its not his regular bollywood kind of movie. I just fall in love with Ranbir again and again and again.................................................................................................................................
SUPERHIT! and to all the HATERS go and ROT in HELL! From today on i have become an ardent RK fan...what an amazing performance...am absolutely speechless! Cant get the movie out of my head....it was just so amazing! Brilliantly done by him!
me and my husband watched the movie today and we loved it.. stellar performance from Ranbir... he is a genuine super star from this generation.. acting and transformation from a geek to a rockstar was superb.. so believable and heartfelt.. nargis was impressive in her first role.. loved loved lllllllloved the movie.. has minor glitches here and there but overall a SUPER DUPER HIT..
A MUST WATCH.. this movie has gone down in Ranbirs career as a star!!!!!!!! glimpses of Kashmir were refreshing..

I really liked the movie the story was really good especially the love story i think they could not put together the scenes (his singing scenes) which come in the middle of the love story, ranbir kapoor deserves the best actor award for this year and nargis was also good the role suited her perfectly.... overall a very touching story

I watched the movie today and totally loved it. The movie has a lot of flaws, yet it was good. Ranbir Kapoor was just awesome. Nargis looked really good in the movie. Her acting though looked forced at times, was good overall. It did nit hamper the movie in anyway. The movie worked for me because of the intense romance and the chemistry between Nargis and Ranbir.
Coming to the negative side, songs though nice kept getting repeated and the brothel/strip club I felt was a little overdone. Jump from one scene to another was not smooth. Shammi Kapoor I felt was not used well. When his record deals happen, some scenes were not very clear or rather I did not understand. I felt the movie started falling apart everytime it jumped to his music label thing. The Aditi Rao track, him getting intimate with her etc...not required.
But when I left the hall, i was speechless for sometime. The movie worked on me because of the romantic angle and rk-nargis chemistry and above all the great perfomance by my current favorite RK:)
Everyone should go watch it because everyone's reaction to the movie has been different. so u may end up liking the movie.
Rockstar had a second biggest opening apart from Ready ( non season opening) collected arnd 12 crores on first day...

@ Tarun.. I know you might NEVER read this but for heavens sake. bring some credibility and taste into your choice of films. dont mislead cine goers. thats the least you can do. why all the shahrukh khan movies get 4 and more stars from you? don 2 is already decided to get 4 stars i guess.

Why brining SRK in this??? If you want to praise this film thats fine. Every film sould have the chance to be loved or not. You don't need to bring someone down just to praise yours!!!! God...I can't read comments about anyone else without reading rubbish about Shah Rukh!!! What is this!!!!...Stick to the movie and thats it. It is just shows how everyone... Actors and the fans of those actors are insecure about Shah Rukh. The industry can have many actors you know and many talented people...Like HW has. No need to such nonsense by you and others.
Katrina Kaif was best suited for the role in Rockstar opp Ranbir. Nargis disappoints.
I'll probably catch Rockstar on DVD instead, but I recommend seeing IMMORTALS 3-D on the Big Screen it's a feast for the senses and it needs to be seen in theatres! BTW for those that saw Rockstar, did they blur out/edit out the Free Tibet logos? Or were they still in the movie?
