Satyamev Jayate: Daughters Are Precious - Episode 1: Female Foeticide
Daughters Are Precious - Episode 1: Female Foeticide In this episode Aamir talks about the killing of unborn girls, or female foeticide, an alarming and frightening reality. It involves the collusion of families, doctors and a social structure that encourages the desire for a boy child - at any cost. The result has been the death of over 3 crore unborn girls since independence and a generation of young men, many amongst whom will find it very tough to get a life partner.

I don't believe in these things..doing the shows to bring this issue to people..the answer is money..money will help these people not commit this crime..when the government is eating the people's money, how would these low income family survive! whats the use of having kids in India if they will end up either begging on the street or selling things on the road..celebrities should do something about that..talking about this issue is not going to solve anything..Aamir could have just set up a centre to help these poor people cope with this issue..well, he's not getting paid to do that so why bother!
I AGREE 100% WITH YOU ......ITS NOT ABOUT TALKING ABOUT THE PROBLEM ..BUT FIND A SOLUTION
HOW YOU CAN CONVINCE THE FATHER TO HAVE A DAUGHTER
WHEN HE WILL WORK SO HARD TO UPBRINGING HER
EDUCATE HER AND.... THEN PAY A HUGE DOWRY .........
bravo great job Aamir, where most of the actors/directors/producers think only of making money with presenting stupid dance and talk shows that focus rich n famous people and their lifestyles, he is actually educating and presenting issues that are never talked by rich/famous tv personalities. he is bringing attention to voice of poor and ignored people of society.ofcourse Indian men wont change their mentality overnight after watching this show, but this is the first step that hopefully change the wrong mentality of Indian men gradually.

Some people on this site sound like insanes. wat do you mean by this baseless comment? What you are doing for your country? Atleast appreciate him for doing a show which can aware people. How much percentage of your earning you are donating for the cause of poor n illiterates? Just think that he might have received so many offers for game shows, for making people "Crorepati", but Amir chose to do "Satyamev Jayate".. . We are doing nothing, so there is'nt any harm in appreciating people who are trying to make the changes..
Thanks
It is rather sad that people must critise at any given opportunity. Rather than thinking negatively and too personally into the mistakes of one's past, could you not better yourself by appreciating the good work that people are trying to achieve in this world and try to contribute in the same way if you can, if not by your actions at least by your thoughts?? We are all humans and we all make mistakes, but the better person is one who overcomes trials and tribulations in life and seeks to do right of his own wrongs. Life has a meaning and purpose and we should praise the people who make the effort to highlight this to the narrower minded community

You have a point and you are right but at the same time, there are shows that bring awareness. This is one of them. He could have made his money which he does anyway through his regular movies/ads etc but this time he chose to bring some awareness. So, if he's making money, i'd rather him make it while awareness is created than not. Wouldnt you agree? Unless you expect the man to work for free. I don't think anybody works for free! Think about it like this, Satyemev Jayte has been a hit, alot of people watched it in India and it's been the talk of town. So hopefully it will make a difference but to take pot shots at Aamir for taking the oppurtunity to do it is rather stupid. I don't see you doing anything! Instead of sitting behind a computer and making silly statements at someone's effort you should stand up and do something for the country. Or do you even live in India?? Or are you another british born confused desi!!!
My friend Money is not the issue.'DOWRY' is the issue. if that is eliminated half the prbs will be eliminated.

I am just appalled by some of the comments posted below. I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but posting comments without much knowledge or information is just sheer idiotic & baseless.
So what if he is doing this for money, if this effort of his does go on to help save even one foetus then in my book that's a big thing. I feel the main objective of this show is to inform & educate people about the things that happen in their country and to show what is ethical & unethical.
This topic is very close to my heart because when I was born my grandparents & aunt were not happy to an extent that they would not come to see me or help my mother during her post birth period.
When I saw this post I was hoping to see comments supporting the abolition of foeticide but it’s sad to see people commenting on Aamir as /husband/ father/ actor. He is not my fav. actor but I do commend & conform to his effort to show people the true India. Here he is not promoting himself or his movies or shows for money but promoting those citizens of India who have overcome many difficulties in their lives. Through this show they are also saluting those people for their bravery for withstanding many negative forces in their lives to come out as a winner.
Can't wait for more episodes...
uff h0w cruel they are

Aamir and concerned about females don't go hand in hand. That's sheer hypocrisy. Look into your own house dude before you talk about how the society should be. Each time I see Kiran Rao, I get this sense of utter disgust on how Aamir cleverly took advantage of his wife of 15-17yrs and dumped her when perhaps she needed him the most. Sick! .. Such a man can't give advice or advocate people on women issues.. blah!
Read something on Twitter and thought it was very correct:
"Aamir Khan is talking about female foeticide on tv. Everyone else on Twitter is talking about Aamir Khan. Fail!"
Even here everyone is talking about how good Aamir Khan is. Well if it is the issue that is so important and not Aamir Khan, then why praise him so much? Why not discuss the issue and try to find solutions for it?
I guess Aamir Khan knows the Indian audience very well and he knew he will gain more from this, have to applaud him for such clever self promotion strategy!
@ Fiza_Khan
"People you never know his real life's issues, so please do not talk about divorce, wives, etc....."
Really? Why? Other stars (who are actually great family men and loyal and dedicated husbands and fathers) who have done nothing wrong get wrong and baseless things written about them on this site by people trying to tarnish their characters and reputations, but when it comes to the wrongs Aamir Khan has really done actually in life, no one should talk??? That is called hypocrisy!
If Aamir Khan left his wife and children for another woman, then it will be talked about!
such a good show! hats off to aamir
ah man! why is it not available in US!
Since a long time, Aamir Khan is trying to educate the population through movies like Tareeza Zameen Par, 3 idiots, dhobi ghaat, etc. I can clearly understand his focus is to provide audience a message about the environment. This is something that most actors usually never think about before signing in for movies.
Now this show helps us to have focused ideas about life, especially to those who are uneducated. Aamir's focus in life is not only fame, it is more about being unique!

and think now instead of adopting a poor girl Amir went far a boy with serogate. Think about how his daughter must be feeling alive.....
Only celebrity person should have guts to talk about this is Shushmita Sen. This guy is making money just by raising these issues.

May be one of the episodes should be about the high rates of divorce in India... and then the victims (the poor wives whose husbands ditched them and their kids for another woman) should be called as guests on the show...and one of the victims should be Aamir Khan's ex-wife!
All the self-righteous people trying to portray Aamir Khan as some kind of saint, get over yourselves! Don't tell me a man who ditched his wife of so many years and his children for another woman is socially conscious! He is no saint and he is doing this for self-promotion. Period.
=========================================
yeah may be he should call his ex-wife, his children, his current wife and also Saif Ali Khan, his ex-wife, his children, and Kareena Kapoor and then they all should discuss why there is a high rate of divorce in India and why are so many marriages crumbling...I am sure that show will get him the highest TRPs, lol
I really don't understand why pakistan is brought up on many of the posts on this forum. This forum is about India and Bollywood. Lets stick to the topics please.
Ok so as a person living in the US and having watched Oprah for many years, this show looks a complete copy of Oprah show. It is as if the American issues turned into Indian issues, the English language turned into Hindi language, and Oprah Winfrey turned into Aamir Khan! Haha! Indian audience not familiar with the Oprah show might think it is a very new and original idea, but anyone who has seen even an episode of the Oprah show wouldn't agree. I wish one day Indians would come up with something more original...

where r u frm?? female foeticide is not happening in Pakistan..
there is no such thing..its illegal to kill a featus...!!
Hats off to Aamir Khan. I was not such a fan of him after he divorced his first wife. But each to his own. What he is doing with SatyamevaJayate is enormous. I wish him the very best of luck and hope no selfish and debauched individual be it a politician or religious head will harm Aamir for touching on uncomfortable topics regarding country, creed, age old beliefs, gender and corruption. Long live Aamir Khan and his well meaning intentions. From now on, I am a Big Fan of AamirKhan!
Satyameva Jayathe! Thanks Aamir for using your popularity and fame so positively.

Aamir should be made the president of India
===============================
Wow so he just hosts a show that is a copy of the Oprah show and he should be made the president of India??? Really this is called blind celebrity follower!
Fantastic show! Aamir has very good intentions and he is very sincere. We should be proud of him and take notice of what is trying to communicate about the problems within our country.

May be we should ask how Rena Dutta (Aamir's ex-wife) and her children feel about this...I am sure they won't agree with you!
This is a great show and before watching this I never even gave it a second thought how Major this issue is... and no matter what haters have to say, we need people like Aamir, who are trying to educate us on whats happening around us... Most of us think this way that only uneducated people do certain things and they are somewhat less sensitive about particular problems... but its not entirely true and its everywhere around us. And this show has definitely opened many eyes and minds. Brilliant and touching!

We are not concerned with pakistan or it's problems on this forum. Thank you. Please don't take this off topic. This forum is based on bollywood and India, not pakistan.
