I think the video was made with good intentions. It is not about whether the actors and let us not forget the singers..were educated lot or not. It is about 'illiteracy'. All of them can read and write, may not be degree holders. If they could not read, they wouldn't be able to read the scripts nor learn and mouth their dialogues! The point is these are popular faces each with their huge fan following. Just like their films, they will reach a large number of Indian population. And that is worth it.
I hope they do one such video for the South Indian sector too....
a great cause and great stars to support it!
@Fri, 2012-03-30 18:01 — Anonymous kareena left school in 8th grade? wrong - she actually completed her schooling recieving 1st class honours in all subjects except maths. she didn't complete her higher studies. in this campaign, the emphasis is on basic literacy skills which all these stars have (reading and writing) and sadly a high number of adults don't have in india and can be a barrier for them. it's got nothing to do with higher education etc.

nspirational but hypocrites!!!!! These actors who are trying to promote adult literacy, not specifically the actors from the video, but most actors quit schooling half way through and join acting. These actors like Deepika, Ranbir etc....gave up on schooling when they could have accessed knowledge and education available to them. Look at these poor villages. Even they are more educated. I think we can make a video with celebrities in the position of the villagers. :P

Kareena is like a grade 10 pass out who SOMEHOW got into harvard and dropped out in a semester..farhan akhtar was a self confessed loser at school, lakshya was partly made on his life story and anil kapoor is also a self confessed lukha who never studied...PC won miss world when "apparently" she was 17 and started acting at 19 so they of all the people have no right to promote a cause like this! they should be sent to school first...how dumb of the producers to think of this concept.
Kareena started acting at like 16 , did she even pass X grade ??
