Student of the Year off to a flying start
Student of the Year has opened well at the box office. As per Box Office India , the movie had the 11th biggest opening of 2012. This is a great accomplishment for a movie which has all new comers. The early estimate figure (for India) is 9.25 crore nett. It is the highest opening day collection for a film with newcomers. The trade is of the opinion that it is the sheer power of Karan Johar's name that has gotten the audience flocking to the theaters. With both critical acclaim and a good opening, Karan Johar has a winner on his hand. The movie also marks the debuts of Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. The audience have loved the trio and they are here to stay.

Varun looks like a ghost with all that make up on. Why???? Boys should not wear make up outside of the sets!! That's a turn off for me. LOL.
Just finished the movie.......TOTAL BAKW-ASSSSSSSSS....SO HORRIBLE, first half looks like GLEE but the second half is "don't know WTF".....Make no sense!
I agree Karan Johar has a bigg hand in the movie evendoe he was nehind the camers and he put a lot of effort and cuz of him sid, varun and aliya have the confidence they have!!! And honestly Karan johar would be much happier if people appreciate his hard work more than just his name!!!

Agree. I was going to watch the movie for Karan and only Karan. Good to hear all positive reviews.
The movie was poor and i am not really upset about it as i didnt have much expectation from it. The trio along with other supporting actors did a good job. For me the main let down of the movie has to be the way it is directed. But then again we r talking about karan who's credibility as a director is always questionable especially to someone like me who likes more realistic movies. Having said that those who like karan's type of movies will definitely enjoy & love it whereas someone like me who is not so fond of karan's movies or type of movies will only have the short comings of the movie to share.
But I have to say I sidharth looks tooooooooo good in the movie. One new crush for me to drool on :D
SINCE IT HAS MADE THE HIGHEST OPENING DAY COLLECTION FOR FILM WITH NEWCOMERS THEN IT IS A BIG COMPLIMENT. IT MADE MORE MONEY THAN HRITHIK ROSHAN'S FIRST MOVIE.

Anyway this just goes to show that the percentage of "likes" and "dislikes" on YouTube songs are not really an indication of how a film will do commercially. In fact, if there are lots of "dislikes" then that means that the film is getting lots of attention regardless.

Very good movie. I thoroughly liked it. The 3 new comers have done a good job. And the winner is Karan. Credit has to be given to Karan. He is a good director.
I just watched this film and superb!!! Love SID and VARUN!!! Both are HOTTTTTTTTTTT!!! Alia is cutie pie. Very youthful film.
