Uri: The Surgical Strike released today, i.e. January 11, 2019, starring 2018's breakout star Vicky Kaushal. Along with Vicky, Uri also stars Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari and debutante Mohit Raina in pivotal roles. Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Uri is based on the Indian Army's successful surgical strikes on Pakistan as retaliation for the heartbreaking Uri Attack, in 2016. The controversial movie was amongst the highly anticipated films of 2019, given its sensitive subject.

Finally, as the movie released today, the audience can finally watch what actually happened during the surgical strikes. Critics have been all praises for Vicky's fabulous performance as Major Vihan Singh Shergill. The audience too has been left spellbound by Vicky and his earnest portrayal of the national hero. However, there was a mixed reaction for the direction and story of Uri. While some called it one of the best war movies made in Bollywood, some felt that it fell a bit too short to give justice to the surgical strikes.

Check out how the public reacted to Uri: The Surgical Strike below:

Meanwhile, in an interview with The New Indian Express, Vicky spoke about how Uri was the most challenging project of his career, until now. "Uri was the most physically challenging project of my career so far. I, along with twenty other actors who are playing special forces commandos, went through a boot camp training for two months. Our trainer was someone who had trained himself with the Black Cat commandos. The boot camp was designed for endurance and stamina building: we learned how to walk, jump, crawl, sweat and be in pain together," the actor revealed.
