YRF responds to Ajay Devgn Ffilms Legal Notice
Here is the official statement from the office of Yash Raj Films on the legal notice sent to them from Ajay Devgn Ffilms . We were indeed quite surprised to receive an intimation from Ajay Devgn Films’ lawyers today saying that they had filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India against YRF, alleging malpractice committed by us in connection with the release of JAB TAK HAI JAAN and thereby affecting the release of Son of Sardar. For a company like ours, which has maintained the highest standards of work ethics and fair play, this has really come as a shock. We would like to clarify at the outset that we still haven’t received any notice from the Commission and will suitably represent our stance if and when called upon to do so. Worldwide, as well as in India, distributers often sign deals for their complete annual slate of films to simplify the process. We trust the Competition Commission will also see it as universally acceptable fair business practise. As we have mentioned in the past, all the exhibitors, when approached by us earlier this year for booking their theatres, were happy to play out Yashji’s movie considering their long standing and emotional relationship and goodwill with YRF of over 40 years. A Yash Chopra/Shah Rukh Khan movie, coming after a gap of 8 long years, did not need any coercion for contractual screening. Additionally, some exhibitors, who played EK THA TIGER, have chosen not to screen JAB TAK HAI JAAN. Interestingly, of the 10500 plus single screens available on an all-India basis, we have booked less than 1500 single screens (an industry norm for an A-lister movie), a fact that has been common knowledge for some time now. If this was an issue, why wasn’t it raised earlier? Why wait till now when both films are nearing release? We had announced JAB TAK HAI JAAN would be a Diwali 2012 release as far back as 27th June 2011 and thereafter every press release of ours reiterated this. Given that most big ticket films avoid simultaneous releases, it was odd that Son of Sardar announced their release for the same day almost a year later on 29th May 2012. They were also able to lock their final distribution partner as late as 4th Oct 2012. It would seem odd that they would expect us to wait for our release plans to be put in place till they had finalised theirs! It is also unfair to say that we are in any way in a dominant position. While we are releasing just three films this year, the two production houses in question, VIACOM 18 & EROS, who are distributing Son of Sardar, have a combined release strength of almost 27 films in a year. Everyone agrees that the festive time of Diwali has space for two simultaneous releases. Give the audience a choice to choose the one they want to watch. Few of the exhibitors have already chosen, on the basis of a business decision, the one they want to exhibit.

Yash Raj productions is being accused of taking unfair advantage with the distributors to hurt someone's business.
Thers no better movie than jthj srk was the best and is the best in what he does and ajay does come nearby to him .If we see acting then srk is god and records also show that 8 filmfares not a jote more then a dozen international hits superhits ....he's jst the best and surely jthj is going to crush sos.
cant see anyone talking about JTHJ ...people at my workplace keep singing " po po po" for some strange reason.i am not any one of srk or ajay fan but i think SOS has succeeded in making some positive vibe and hype around them...and these legal notices would just help them
when i see ppl commenting "Seriously - who would choose to watch Ajay and Sonakshi rather than SRK, Katrina, Anushka" i actually laugh ..because at the end ..the better one would succeed no matter what ..(star cast,screens,music etc) is just to build hype ...if the movie isnt good enuf nothing would help either of those...:):)
+srk fans and other fans please stop fighting even your fighting wont save a pathetic movie(be it JTHJ or SOS) ..if both r good both would work...remember LAGAAN n gaddar released together..n they r considered the best movies ever made in bollywood.
i really shudder to think that out of all YRF are doing this.

Because It's confirmed officially that they sold JTHJ with ETT. And Cinema owners say they haven't been making much profit from SRK's movies from past few years (In India Only). Maybe that's why they had to sell it with ETT.
srk will be done and dusted this diwali ,he'l never ever release any movie of his on diwali
where is our "gentleman like and chivalry wale srk ....if he is even hal of what people say ..he shud stop this pathetic move of yrf ....i mean doesnt the guy have confidence in the product ....and people at yashraj ...how much money starved they are...how many screens did DDLJ get ...or for that matter LAGAAN (released with GADDAR both were hits)....one should be confident about the movie they have made.....people at ADF are(cuz they hav the guts to release the movie on the same day with lesser screens *respect*).....
and on the other side we have ....the YASHRAJFRAUDS...using ETT to make JTHJ a hit ...disgusting...

It sends the wrong message to impressionable children about correct spelling.
And it hurts my eyes.

YRF are disgusting. Using bully boy tactics to gain monopoly. They even got Mukesh Bhatt to pressurise Ajay to postpone SOS. But I'm glad he didn't back down and stuck to his original release date. Go team SOS!
OMG thats shocking. is SOS another rawdy movie. people are more mature and want quality entertainment. JTHJ is a promising quality entertainment.

Ajay Devgan has no dignity! Is that what he has learned from his new friend Salman Khan??? He sees his movie flopping and so he doesn't even respect the last film of a dead man and resorts to such cheap tactics! Shame on you Ajay! Now your film will surely flop!

The same people who made films like Rowdy Rathore a hit. I am not happy to admit that but it sadly true. Its time to stop this speculation. Its quite shameful when a production house as old and famous as Yash Raj productions is being accused of taking unfair advantage with the distributors to hurt someone's business. Yashji has just passed away. Both the production houses should sort their differences out as quickly as possible before the situation escalates for at least Yashji's sake. It takes years of hard work and dedication to build trust and reputation in an industry but just one scandal/wrong step to destroy all of that.
what is Kajol's opinion on this?
too much speculation on late Yash Chopra, it is not good, if the movie is good it will speak itself, give Ajai a chance to cal competition, He is box office king, look at his movie, he has most 100 cr after Salman, and SoS title song is huge hit, get fact correctly, if PV team does not watch the Ajai's movie it does not matter at all, sorry PV.

Im not a fan of neither SRK or Ajay but JTHJ is going to crush SOS. Even the promos of JTHJ are talked about so much and on youtube, JTHJ videos have gotten far more views.
Ajay made a huge mistake.

I think they'll both me hits..but JTHJ will be a super hit
