She just has to get into shape and she could still look good. But she seems happy and content and that's the best.

I think at some point even the indian audience is to be blamed. They always want the women to look angelic on screen. Even in there is a Funeral scene in the film, our audience expect the women to be all caked up and look glamorous. Filmmakers only make what the people want. May be thats the reason, the shelflife of female actors is very short. Bollywood at present is flooded with overrated or must I say NON-actors. tell me one actress from the current lot who can do a 'DIL SE' or 'Khamoshi' or 'Bombay' with the finnese n elegance she handed them with. Aishwarya rai, deepika padukone, katrina kaif-------do they even match upto 50% of the talent manisha had? How dumb had the industry become, it doesnt matter if you can act or not, emote or not, be natural in frontt of the camera or not, what only matters is - you need to look good.

Why is bollywood so cruel to women? Men keep romancing 20 year old girls even after 60 and female actors are shown the doors at 30s? how bad? cant we learn something from hollywood? meryl streep gets nominated for oscars every year, sandra bullock wins an oscar at 45. i agree with all of u guys, even in her prime time she was so down to earth, as she is now, unlike madhuri - success really went into madhuris head.
ravishingly beautiful, immensely talented, gutsy, honest- isnt she a perfect woman?
So what if shez aged and has wrinkles, eveyone will get there some day, atleast unilke her contemporaries, she never got any work done to her face to hide the age lines, she is still out in the public sans makeup. hats off to you lady, god bless her!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

These many comments and every sigle comment , in awe and praise of her. Feels so good to read such healthy comments about her. I wish some of our filmmakers also read these comments and get to know the kind of image she has among people. Atleast then they would start writing some powerful roles for her, and we would be saved from some talentless, plastic faked up dolls donning the bollywood today.GO MANYAAAAAAAAAA

3 Cheers for Ms. Koirala !! An artist in the realm of press players.
she could have really gone article after article about her family connections but she never sold that image to Bollywood. she never tried to ride on her looks or heritage. yes, it's the truth that she's Prime-Minister's grand-kid-- but it was more important to her to up-play and live the females who were feminists and fought for women's rights. it's hard to believe that people are saying she was crazy to "put down" Madhuri and Sridevi-- coming from her level of a family connection-- she was never 'in awe' of top stars or anything. spoke her mind.. paid the price.. moved on. Bollywood's loss.

She's one fearless liberated woman who lives life on her own terms. She has a great sense of who she is and what she wants. In that sense she reminds me of Angelina Jolie.

MANYA K IS A UNIQUE CHARMING MIXTURE OF RARE NATURAL BEAUTY AND TALENT, WHICH GROWS AND GROWS!
someone who works in Mumbai and has seen all the stars without makeup (and seen them minus their camera personality)-- rates her the most beautiful INSIDE out without any makeup. they say she's the only one who smiles as charmingly off camera-- is bubbly and fun.. she's the type to throw a party and pay it all for everyone.. no matter who's on the set.. and if she's mad, she ROARS like a leo lioness... but means no harm. yes, she is very humble about her looks and big family background.... and never feels like she's the pretty girl who 'gets'... she was and always is a the warm compassionate down to earth artist who gets hurt, makes mistakes and is very very emotional.. the cornerstone of her talent and the emotion comes in her eyes.. making her beauty RAW, RUSTIC AND MAGICAL.
To all the new gens guys getting the Hollwood clones nowaways.
Go see Dil-Se (truly truly no make up Manya as a pure beauty... ), Bombay and Khmoshi--- and see beauty in action-- because the beauty is emotion-- and that is the power of Manya !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
that was the days of Manya, when beauty and talent were merged into pure art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

she never advertises , but people better research on the incredible amount of silent social and charity work she's done for helpless females.
it is VERY SAD that her own gender mis-understands and disses her (i.e having too much bfs [[ as if that's a bad thing]], etc. etc. she is one of the few stars who would have helped the gender of Indian women, rather than perpetuating negative limiting sterotypes of our gender. oh well, Bollywood males did not like her guts... so good bye to the potential #1. had she been on the scene today, you can bet there would have been powerhouse films like Bombay and Khamoshi and the like.. .making Bollywood cinema a different story than the Hollywood-clone factories the producers keep chipping out..

greatest legend talent of India.
most underrated beauty and talent.
most gutsy too ..

Royalty family she is, yes. grand-daughter of a Prime Minister , no less !
a beauty, yes.
talent, very much so.
brilliant.. yes, ever see her writings?
(( and no, this is not Manya writing this.. ))
one basher of Manya on another post called her unstable saying she critizied Madhuri and Sri ! Imagine this.. she has the guts to criticize the big bollywood stars and Subash , etc. because frankly, she was never fazed by the famous as she came from such a top ranking family-- of women educated and working before her! she is very very lovely-- but never wore pancake to up it... or play up her looks.. or play up her image. would this last in Bollywood, where producers liked to be celebrated and admired (and often let go of heroines who are 'attached')? no..
so one can have exquisite looks and amazing talent and go no where in Bollywood. but this failure can lead to other truths.. and that is Manya. A star who went on to be a true artist.
to all those who like true art, see Bombay and Khamoshi . Manya's talent is pure and raw !

Manya does not advertise, but she's helped the females in Nepal. she is the staunches women's rights activists in the purest sense: she lives her rights. it's that simple. she's never ashamed of her bold lifestyle, rather she shows people the way.
freeing young women who are enslaved by lifestyles there is something that means a lot to her. A LOT.

Hello, Fri, 2010-11-26 15:37 — Anonymous -> yes, she never was arrogant of her looks or family heritage. she comes from a family of feminists. off-screen-- 0% makeup. she never thought of her melanain-less looks as something she 'achieved' either.. she sees beauty in all colors.
one basher of Manya's said that she even looks 'down' on Sri and Madhuri. not so.. but Manya NEVER minces words. she does not think highly of anyone who plays image games. she comes from so much that she never got too much dazed by Bollywood to submit to their games.
Fri, 2010-11-26 16:37 — Anonymous
What I like about her is , she is always so very down to earth. She doesn't show an ounce of arrogance. Being a true scion of the royal nepali family, she always dresses like any other middleclass working woman. No makeup, simple accessories and above all a smile which makes you feel so good.
Fri, 2010-11-26 15:53 — Anonymous
if you're a heroine if boyfriends in the start of your career (the way Manya was), and admit to them, you're going to lose out on the male fans. that's sad, it's not the way Hollywood works.
Manya doesn't like that, and wants to openly admit to all her relationships, and she doesn't think highly of people who deny anything in their lives to get 'fans'. guess that's why she never made it. proof that beauty+talent can get amiss in Bollywood unless you play up to the male dominated society there.

She had everything going for her, god films, working with some of the best directors n author backed roles. But we in India always have the habit of spitting on the best we have. She never got the respect she deserved, the media and the people always dubbed her as unprofessional and reckless.Of course she has always been in the eye of the storm for her 'chic' lifestyle, but she also needs to be praised for her guts, she was open about all her relationships.never played games to get good roles. and I also think she made a good pair with all the leading men of her time , from the kapoors to khans she always made a good pair .
