TheNehru Stadium was abuzz with glitz and glitterati as the much adored stars fromthe South Indian Film fraternity turned out in their glamorous best for the 59thIdea Filmfare Awards 2011 (South). The highlight of the event was a live showby the actors themselves, spellbinding fans with great performances. Theaudience stayed glued and applauded as the stage sizzled with mesmerizingnumbers and scintillating acts from popular blockbusters of the South. The ceremony was attendedby the crème de la crème of the South Indian film industry looking dazzling inthe best of attires…it sure was an evening to remember! The Kannada queens Priyamani and Sanjana set the stage on fire with their sensationalperformances on Poovai Poovai - Telugu, Diva Diva - Kannada, Aaranu Nee - Malayalam, Kalasala Tamiland Gangave Bagi, Mylapura Mylari, Pankaja. Shruti Haasan rocked the evening by with her moves onGabbar Singh, Yele Lama, Keu Keeka & more, had the audience begging for more! Everyone held theirbreath as Richa Gangopadhya won the hearts with her breathtaking performanceson the numbers Ussume Larsey, Sir Osthara, Dhinka Dhin Jiya,Unnale Unnale, Kadhal Vanthalen - Tamil; the gorgeous showstopper Tamannah hadeveryone dancing to her tunes as she performed on hits like KonjamNilavu, Chikku Bukku, Urvasi, Mukkala The dashing Dhanush re-created magic on the stagewith his sensational performance on the nationwide superhit ‘Kolaveri Di’. RimaKalingal and Poorna Jagannath captivated the audience while they danced on VijanaSuraahi, Chimmi Chimmi, Aarene Aarene & Ramayana Kattu, Kakka Mayile from Mallu Singh,Oh January from Big B, Appagelbum from Usthad Hotel. The charming Chinmayee andthe flamboyant Karthik were perfect hosts who held the gathering with theirvery own compendium of wit and humour. The well deserved nominees waited with bated breathas the envelopes were opened to reveal the winners of the coveted Lady inBlack. The Lifetime AchievementAwards were presented to Mr. SP MUTHURAMAN and Ms. SEEMA SASI who humblyreceived the honour amidst the enthralled audience. The Filmfare Awards’ 59th edition was presented this year bythe leading telecom operator, Idea Cellular. what on earth!? south indians don't give a damn how presentable they look do they (i'm south indian myself, so don't call me condescending). what IS trisha wearing?! i'd wear that out on a casual date, not an award function!! plus why are the guys wearing jeans? oh lord
