Real life couple in reel life comes together in Drarma Production's KURBAAN, releasing next week. Bollywood's hottest and most admirable pair Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor thrilled the crowd on 14th Nov, 2009 at PVR Premiere at Ambience Mall Gurgaon in NCR. The stunning pair was in town to promote Rensil De Silva's directorial venture KURBAAN introducing them in lead roles. During the press conference which was well attended by the media, they answered all kind of media queries. When asked about the issuance of censor certificate ‘A’ to the film, Saif was unfazed and said confidently, “It would not affect the popularity of the movie like in the case of Race which was a superhit.”
Describing the movie Kareena and Saif said, “The movie has an adult theme and deserves the mature audience in many ways. Kurbaan is a love story with the backdrop of international terrorism.”

1. Sizzling Saifeena
While Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have been Bollywood’s most talked-about couple for quite some time, this is the first time that they will show their onscreen chemistry. Surprised?
In LOC , they just had a momentary scene together. In Omkara and Tashan , they weren’t romantically paired opposite each other. In Roadside Romeo , they just lent their voices to the animated characters. So Kurbaan is the first film to pair them together romantically and to good extent.
Their chemistry is already the talk of the town and their sizzling smooches and Kareena’s backless image has already made the couple a hot hit.
2. Not a ‘familiar’ Karan Johar film
For the first time Karan Johar will venture out of his homely domain to produce a film which is divergently different from all the romantic flicks and family dramas he has made so far. Kurbaan has a very sensitive and social theme and talks about global terrorism.
3. The New York connection
Rumours have been doing rounds that the story of Kurbaan is similar to Yash Raj Film’s New York that released earlier this year. Even New York was based on the theme of global terrorism and showed the aftermath of 9/11 on innocent Muslims who became victims. Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi play characters that have similar shades of characters of John Abraham, Katrina Kaif and Neil Mukesh from New York .
However the makers haven’t commented anything on the similarity of the two scripts. So it would be interesting to see how similar or different Kurbaan is from the popular film New York.
4. Rensil’s realistic touch
Rensil D’Silva makes his directorial debut with this film. For the uninitiated, Rensil is the one who wrote the internationally acclaimed Rang De Basanti . He is a proficient writer and some of his scripts under production include Mani Ratnam’s much-talked film Raavan and David Dhawan’s Hook Ya Crook . He was also in talks for making a film on the life of Kishore Kumar.
So despite Kurbaan being his first film, the talented Rensil promises immense potential.
5. Vivek back with vengeance
Last but not the least, Kurbaan also stars Vivek Oberoi in a prominent role. Though he has been kept out from the print promotions and has negligible footage in the trailer of the film, insiders claim that he is the surprise package in the film. Striking back with vengeance, watch out for Vivek Oberoi in this one.
