Wearing black may mean different things but there is something called manners and dress code, though the host does not have to specify. :-))
For instance, didn't you wear uniform to school in India instead of arguing that your intention is 'to learn' so uniform doesn't matter to you, you did follow the rule. Why not wear a bikini to a wedding reception whatever the intention? or wear a white wedding gown to a funeral? I bet No one would.
In India in most of part of the world, Black color is not considered auspicious in wedding, probably that is what somebody is pointing at.
We can't force somebody but I would feel offended if somebody wore black outfit it to my wedding (if it was my birthday or any other party I wouldn't feel bad at all)

yes, guys wear black tuxedos all the time.. while women wear the little black dress to main events and all look fine... but yes, if they wore neon colors.. they might look brighter, shinier, and happier.. right? not really, its' how you feel INSIDE that counts.... neon colors and even bright colors can make people look clownish and get too much attention.. and sometimes very very beautiful people tend to wear dull colors to make themselves not stand out so much.. so what...

About Aish wearing black to weddings, COMEON!!! it can mean different things. some people wear black to ward off nazar (protective color). others just wear black to look slim. others wear it because it's one color that's simple to wear. it's all in the intent.. if she's wearing it innocently, no big deal. on the other hand people who wear bright and colorful clothes given by the bride's family (dowry)-- and have 0% goodwill towards the bride.
so all in all, intent counts... not color.
yes, Ash looks beutiful. the other two in pink also looks like Aish...cousins may be.

Any dull color is not the same as black.
For a wedding if you wear black, it can be percieved as if you are wishing bad luck to them indirectly- kind of a bad omen. Black is usually worn for funerals in western countries.
