EXCLUSIVE: #MonkeyWedding - All that happened at Bipasha-Karan’s Mehendi Ceremony!

Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover’s mehendi cum sangeet function took place yesterday at Villa 69, Mumbai. The place and décor were on the lines of floral and pink, Bipasha’s favourite themes! The bride and groom-to-be looked much-in-love and oh bwoy, their excitement was even palpable through the pictures.
So like everyone out there, you all must be excited to know what happened inside the function, all the fun details. In an exclusive chat to Pinkvilla, Bipasha’s stylist, and friend Shyamli revealed to us the entertaining and juicy details from the mehendi cum sangeet ceremony.
“We just had 30-35 people for the mehendi. We deliberately chose the day time, so we all could have much time at our hands to enjoy the festivities and be better rested for today. Aaj ka din packed hai, wedding and then reception. Even today will also be a close-knit ceremony, immediate family and Bips-Karan’s friends who have been with the duo through thick and thin,” stated Shyamli.
We hear there was a special dance performance for the couple, what about that? “Out of the 30 -35 people present, 25 had prepared dance items for Bipasha and Karan! (laughs) The sisters and friends performed on Bips hit numbers as Beeedi Jaliyele, Lucky Boy and No Entry etc. Bipasha had no idea that we will be performing, so she got so excited that by the end of every performance, she used to come on the dance floor, and do a lehenga twirl step. Super excited and happy she was. We closed the performance with Bips-Karan’s hot number, Touch My Body, on which Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty performed especially for Bipasha. Even Karan joined the girls (Shetty sisters) in the end and danced on the number, much to his bride-to-be’s delight,” shared Shyamli.
She further added, “These guys (Bipasha-Karan) are so excited about their wedding, that they themselves are posting and sharing their pictures; they don’t want people to complain and lookout for inside pics idhar-udhar. By the end of the ceremony tomorrow, while we all were bone-tiered, yet Bipasha was jumping around like an enthusiastic, happy bride. She is really enjoying her wedding festivities, and that’s why she refrained from inviting many people. Else it gets too formal.”
Interestingly, the couple has been using #monkeywedding hashtag for all their wedding-related pictures. What’s the secret behind this? Shyamli revealed, “From the time Bipasha and Karan had started dating, ‘monkey’ was used as a pet name by both, for each other. When Bipasha’s bachelorette took place, Deanne (Panday) ordered a monkey-themed cake. Even when Rocky S planned Karan’s bachelor, they all referred to that group as ‘Monkey Gang.’ Since their wedding prep has begun, right from the goodies and gifts to WhatsApp groups, #monkeywedding has become our go-to name. Also, media would have else ended up giving them some kind of short name or a hashtag, so we decided to give it ourselves. (smiles)”
Well, what more can we say, Bips and Karan and even their friends are happy ‘monkeying’ around in the duo’s #monkeyweddiing festivities.
