EXCLUSIVE: After Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh too will dabble with a superhero film?

In the last two years, Ranveer Singh has toppled all his other contemporaries to become the most sought-after actor from the younger generation. After delivering massive super-hits like Padmaavat, Simmba and Gully Boy, the actor has become a hot property in the B-town. Several producers and directors are lining up at his door to cast him for their movies. He has already okayed two projects - Kabir Khan's '83 and Karan Johar's magnum opus Takht. But that's not all!

Our khabri says, "Ranveer has been locked for three big films under Aditya Chopra's banner YRF. He just has to sort his dates out to start one next year, once he finishes Takht. He begins shooting for KJo's period drama around September this year and the shoot is expected to be wrapped up around March-April next year. There are several offers he's looking at, but he obviously will keep preference to the Yash Raj projects."

Among the three, one will place him in a completely different space altogether. The source adds, "Ranveer is doing Maneesh Sharma's next which is a musical. After that, he has also liked another project where he will play a superhero. It's an action adventure project that is being planned as a franchise and will be mounted on a lavish scale. It will be one of the biggest projects for the company, too. He is also supposed to do a film with Ali Abbas Zafar right after these two."

Given Ranveer's turnover at the box office, Adi feels the actor is the only one from Gen-Y who can pull it off. "A few discussions have happened and it's been positive. Ranveer has liked the idea but the dates need to be figured now." This also means that soon, the Bajirao Mastani actor will join the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff who have played superheroes in movies. Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra is also in a similar space, although it's a supernatural film but with RK having superpowers. Not just that, Deepika Padukone is also gearing up to play a superheroine in India's first sci-fi project revolving around a female central protagonist. We're already excited. Are you?
