Love is surely in the air for Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, who tied the knot on May 8, 2018, in a private setting. Unfazed by the constant media glare, Sonam and Anand did not refrain from a public acknowledgment of their fondness for each other even while they remained tight-lipped about their relationship. The #EverydayPhenomenal couple reportedly dated for over four years before having a fairytale wedding.

Sonam, Bollywood's very own style diva, made sure to keep her wedding a traditional and classy affair. Spread over three days, the functions kickstarted with an intimate mehendi function and we bet photos from the event had got everyone gushing.

As we allow all of you'll (including us) to get over the hangover, we EXCLUSIVELY got in touch with Bollywood's Mehendi Queen, Veena Nagda, the hero behind Sonam Kapoor's beautiful mehendi.

Veena, who is the go-to person for all the mehendi functions in Bollywood, made sure to keep up with the taste and vibe of a traditional Sikh wedding. Having known the Kapoor family for over two decades now, the mehendi artist, has been applying mehendi to Sonam ever since she was six. Recalling it, Veena shared, "Even as a child, Sonam was very particular about the minute details, each line and design in the mehendi. I have been applying mehendi to her ever since was 6 and have seen her observe the designs very closely."

However, Veena maintained that Sonam wanted her bridal mehendi to be extremely traditional just like old world charm and to not fall for the popular figure designs. "There was no brief given to us as such, as she has always liked her mehendi design intricate. Bridal mehendi are usually different, they are more based on figures which are very popular these days but Sonam was clear that she wants to put the traditional kinds which she has been putting since forever. The wedding theme was completely traditional, hence she wanted to stick to it."

But Sonam asked for this one specific detail on the mehendi, revealed the Mehendi Queen. "The only thing Sonam asked to specifically add in the design was an elephant and since Anand Ahuja likes lotus, she asked to incorporate that design as well."

In case, if you didn't notice, Sonam's wedding lehenga too had lotus motifs all over it. Now, we know the inspiration behind it.

She also recounted how she joked with Sonam about writing Anand's name in Hindi in her mehendi so that he wouldn't be able to find it but Sonam came to his defence. "The first time she had written Anand's name in her mehendi, Anand had identified so I joked with her that let's write it in Hindi this time as Anand cannot read Hindi very well. But Sonam asked to write his name in English only as she wanted him to find his name."

Veena also revealed that while Sonam had her hands decorated with mehendi, Anand too got an elephant design made on Sonam's insistence.

She also added that the entire Kapoor family considers her as a part of their family and that makes her really proud. Veena and her assistants made sure that every guest including celebrities like Jacqueline Fernandes, Katrina Kaif, Rani Mukerji, leaves with a huge smile on their face after seeing their designs.
