As fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe await the release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios' first film of 2019 is still breaking box office records. Released on March 8, Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson as Carol Denvers recently entered the billion dollar club and now the film's worldwide box office collections has beat another movie which is considered to be an epic in its own right. According to a report in comicbook.com, Captain Marvel's worldwide box office collection has officially left behind Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

The Brie Larson starrer has grossed over USD 1.037 million whereas on the other hand The Dark Knight hauled in USD 1.004 million in its 33-week box office run. Apart from this, Captain Marvel has also landed a spot on the list of highest-grossing movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stands at number 7 out of the 21 MCU movies.

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel was the first film with a female lead. Brie Larson will now be seen in Avengers: Endgame and the actress recently celebrated the entry of the film into the 'Billion dollar club'. Taking to Instgram, Brie wrote, "Our girl Carol Danvers just joined the One Billion Club! Thank you endlessly to everyone for helping us cross this milestone. It has been an absolute pleasure sharing this character with the world. I’ve loved seeing the cosplay, fan art and passionate words about our HERo. Cheers to you all! Higher, Further, Faster baby!"

Avengers: Endgame will hit the screens on April 26 and is expected to shatter all box office records.
