Cannes film festival which is one of the popular events is currently underway in France and one of the first movie screenings was of Selena Gomez starrer The Dead Don’t Die. During the press conference of the movie, Selena raised a vital topic of harmful effects of social media among youngsters. She went on and said how the same is terrible for the current generation. The singer and actor, who has more 150 million followers on Instagram also said that it “impossible at this point” to make social media platforms safe for users. She also asked young people to take a break from social media whenever they feel overwhelmed.

Gomez said, “I understand that it’s amazing to use as a platform but it does scare me when you see how exposed these young girls and boys are. I think it’s dangerous for sure.” She added, "I’m grateful I have a platform. I don’t do a lot of pointless pictures. For me, I like to be intentional with it. I see these young girls … I’ll meet them at meet-and-greets, and they’re just devastated by bullying and not having a voice. I would be careful and allow yourself some time limits of when you should use it."

Speaking of the movie, the same is directed by Jim Jarmusch. And apart from Gomez, the movie also stars Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Adam Driver in key roles. The movie is about an American city which is overrun with zombies after a celestial event.

The movie will release on 14 June in the USA and on 12 July in the UK.
