Sophie Turner starrer Dark Phoenix opened in the cinemas this week. The X-Men movie is said to be the last movie under the Fox banner before Marvel Studios announces its plan for the X-Men universe. The movie underwent a few changes before the final version of the movie hit the theatres recently. Among the many changes the movie incorporated during the reshoots, there were reports revealing that the movie's climax underwent massive change. Director Simon Kinberg spoke about those reshoots recently and revealed an interesting anecdote.

The filmmaker revealed that the movie's climax and the ending was inspired by Captain America: Civil War. He confirmed that the original ending was different. But the setup changed during the reshoots. Speaking to io9, Kinberg explained how the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie helped the X-Men movie.

"My original ending didn’t have the entire X-Family together the way they are in the film now. More than Captain Marvel, you could see a lot of Civil War in that ending. Usually, these big, huge action movies have the climactic moment in the third act. I loved the way that Civil War had its big action action set piece where everyone’s facing off more towards the end of the second act rather than in the third, so that after that huge battle, you’re left with Winter Soldier, Captain America, and Iron Man," he explained.

He added, "It’s this telescoped down view of their raw emotions, and I loved how intimate that was. That’s what I was going for with Dark Phoenix’s ending even though it then might have looked like Captain Marvel for about two minutes." While the team put in every effort to make this movie memorable, it did not seem to impress everyone. The movie has opened with bad reviews. X-Men Dark Phoenix has also witnessed a disastrous opening.
