Interview: Priyanka Chopra & the rise of South Asian culture

Mediocre video, insubstantial lyrics, and zero singing talent = nothing special. I think it's the Indian media that is blowing it up to exaggerated proportions. There's thousands of English song that sounds very much like her by people who really don't know how to sing. Now people like Whitney, Adele, Celine etc. - they're talented.

Surprisingly it was more Anjula's interview than PC's. It was really interesting to see how Anjula came up with the concept based on her lifelong dream and she was able to find support and funding at Universal. And of course with Priyanka and Red One on board, everything just clicked. I really hope PC can make it big in a global way. Actually I think for that to happen, she would need to relocate to LA for at least 1-2 years. Like Anjula said, she needs to be accessible. I think this is the only way she can become a household name in N America, just having Universal backing is not enough, she needs to get out there and be seen. I guess it all comes down to how seriously PC wants to be a global superstar. Maybe in her heart she just wants to stay in India and be on top in Bollywood. It's all up to her, where she wants to focus her energies.

I don't get why do we HAVE to hate on someone who is making it big in the west, it's not a bad thing. Rather then supporting I see unnecessary hate remarks, are people that jealous/insecure?

Yes voiceswriter. Just like aishwarya, who's mainly a product of her pr. starting false rumours like she being considered as bond girl, her supposed 'crossover' to Hollywood which sank before it even started because of her mediocre acting 'skills'. Cannes Cannes Cannes..when she and actresses like Eva longoria go only because they represent loreal. Not because of their acting abilities! Sold to the world as 'the most beautiful woman in the world'. Really?? List goes on and on. At least priyanka chopra can act!

I'll give her this, she has great PR people. Just look at the clips they selected to show from her Bollywood repertoire...all her sexy dance numbers + every action sequence she probably has ever done on film, precisely the kind of stuff that would interest the Western audience + look at the mileage she is getting on just one single. She's going places.

Who cares if she lies about her past story--- what counts is she indian and doing well in hollywood. we should be proud of her. I like her confidence and if she two different accents, well she is an actress she is able to adapt herself in bollywood and hollywood.

Priyanka is amazing, and she has taken everyone by storm. Her single sold 200,000 copies just in two days "WOW". She's already the BEST ACTRESS and Now she's going to take the pop world by storm.

@anon, a person who is so insecure about her looks that she constantly keeps getting plastic surgery and then keeps lying about it, has had rumored affairs with everyone she is seen with (there is no smoke without fire), keeps changing her accent the minute she sees americans/brits/westerners, etc etc how is that an inspiration? you need to get our priorities right buddy!

Priyanka Chopra is a TRUE inspiration to women and all!!
