that whole being ostrasized from the industry thing is a myth. karishma herself admitted in interviews her father supported her a lot and her mother was always ther for her.
i kno none of the big production houses did not want to touch her becauz she was a bogus hamming actress. she got lucky that mr khalid mohammed who has quoted to look at her like his daughter wrote two script of some substance for her directed one film himself and than reccomended her to shyam benegal. thus giving her some worthwile films. other than that she made the best from the big left over offers of other actresses. like raja hindustani was first offered to aish than raveena. dil to pagal was offered to juhi, raveena, urmila and god knos how many other actresses before it went to her. she made the most out of her career as someone struggling for ages cud. the reason she is not trying to maintain her fame beyond age becuz she doesnt have the star power to do it unlike aish who is one actress that proved the sexist double standards of bollywood industries wrong. she is even making her comback with c grade flop director vikram bhatt.

atleast miss world is something aish rai bachan ji had accomplished on her own. and itz not that easy you need brains which miss bimbo kapoor does not have. she just has her kapoor name which she was born with and figure she spend hours in the gym for.
Karishma Kapoor has had nothing served to her on a platter -_- She entered the industry as a girl ostracized from it. The reason she had to work with mediocre directors unlike Mrs Bachan was becuase the big production houses refused to touch her ! She is a determined woman with a good head on her shoulders: she has broken with Kapoor tradtion yet kept with it. She entered the industry, worked amazingly hard and proved her mettle to the Indian audiences and left it all at the pinnacle of success to prove her self to her family. She was not an actress who sat around relishing fame way past her time and putting off family, she was a woman who proved herself as an actress. So don't suggest she's some star child, because she wasn't, she done things the hard way, the way that your average struggling starlett does. All the best to her on her second innings, may she be satisfied <3
karishma kapoor ji had to really work hard and bimbo ash just rode on her miss world success to get offers then when that ran out she got lucky with cannes, n now she is only famous because of cannes and not because of her talent, because she doesnt have any

Aish acts along big stars. Atleast she has roles in the movies she does that. Yes, Karishma acted alongside Govinda in comedies. Where she was never the one making me laugh. I dont cant care what any article says. He also formed a hit pair with Raveena and a lot of other actresses. He was star before Karishma. He just needed any pretty chick there to work his skills. It like saying Akshay and Kat are a team. Is a karishma regarded as a comic actress today because she had so many hit comedies? No, Govinda is known to be a great comic actor. Suneil Darshan did the same thing always casting her opposite Akshay Kumar in his films. After Govinda went on acting break. David Dhawan casted her alongside Salman Khan. He wasnt a star at all in the 1990s. Banking on successful pairings with no roles. Who does that sound like? KAT
Yes, she had hits 1992 to 1998. But her real acting claim didnt come till the 2000s. She had two commercial films where her acting got noticed. In dil to pagal hai and Raja Hindustani. Dil to pagal hai she really got lucky. It was tossed by several actresses before went to her. As for RH I dont buy she out shadowed Aamir. She just had less competition. So she got the award. No where have I heard he got rid of her for Mela. RH was a slightly better film than Mela. Mela was just a corny wannable Sholay.
I dont think Karishma was top actress in early 1990s. I hardly noticed her between Madhuri, Juhie and Kajol.

Aish has maintained her position in bollywood with so many detrators. Not being able to work with khans. Ppl not being able to look past her looks and being an outsider. Karishma was very lucky and she had no natural ability in her. That what I see. I try watching her movies to see her talent but sry.
Im sure had she gotten offer from Mani Rantam she would have taken it. Find me link saying she was the first choice.
She worked with mediocre directors most of her career. Aish has worked from ADI, Subash ghai, JP Dutta, Mani, ausutosh gowarikar, sanjay numerous times. she was offered koi mil gaya, munna bhai, dostana. Plenty ppl notice her talent. Even when she was on her lows she gave great performance like provoked, chokar bali, and raincoat. Thatz why she went up again. She got offers like Jodha Akbar, Umrao Ja, Dhoom after giving few flops. One or two offers or rumored offers wont match Karishma up to Aish.

the fact is: the young karisma wasn't every director's apple of the eye like katrina do today. she tried hard to get films and without manipulating her way. you always said cat fights stuff. Look, raveena was mad because she thought karisma get her out from many films. the truth, karisma was NEVER get raveena out of any films. the most popular evidence have been aatish & AAA. raveena was the lead actress and karisma was the supporting ones. yes AAMIR KHAN was in RH. but he has only delivered a hit RH in 1996. whereas karisma 5 HITS. if aamir was a more successful star than karisma at that time, why did mela flop already? oh he's get karisma out of mela because he's very aware of karisma's star power. he didn't want to be overshadowed by karisma once again after RH.
karisma got lucky? probably for her first hit, prem qaidi being known as a member of kapoors. but the nonstop hits from 1992 to 1999 proved u wrong. she had jigar & police officer in 1992, anari in 1993...the list still continues... without big names around her.

the word lucky is not correct my dear. karisma has worked doubly hard than any of her contemporaries and that hard work has paid very well. life comes full circle.

Raja Hindustani also had aamir in it. and karishma was only popular because of her commercial success. much like the way katrina kaif is today doin nothing roles. the film became a hit after the hit actors. and got some notice. and sanjay says he is always thnkful to a lot ppl for standing behind him hdds because of the commericial failure of khamoshi. My point was that Aish-sanjay team has always been a hit. Im not sayin that the credit belongs to one person only.

Who I actually felt was underated but was also HUGE flop actress. so if karishma was the first choice, so what? she would have nothing to do in it. just look pretty like sonali. it had star cast that was for most part unknown.
there is a difference between karishma and aish. Aish only struggled for the first year. as all outsiders do because they have a harder time getting getting a break through. yes there are other actors from the family who didnt make it. but karishma tried harder than they did. she worked in many more movies. you could tell she was competive. from the way she got into cat fights with other actresses like raveena. she struggled for a much longer time and eventually got lucky. point being she wasnt a kapoor she would have never ENTERED the industry first place.
as for her association with salman khan. salman khan has a habit of going after young pretty new girls in the industry. somi ali, katrina kaif, I suppose they were all using him. she broke up with him knowing what damage it might do to her career. she is one woman who has still remained in businesses without working with any three khans afterwards.
karishma worked in small budget films so has Aish. Raincoat and Choker Bali. only here there no big time commercial actors lik hrithik amrish puri rekha to save the day. Choker Bali, SLB himself said Aish was great in. Raincoat got raving reviews once again. and she won the critics best actress award. only in these filmfs she didnt have to ham like a baby horse crying. Shabana Azmi had said that Umrao Jaan couldnt be remade without Aish.
so what's the difference between ash & karisma? let's play fair... don't be biased my friend. as u said by yourself, so what if ash was flop before HDDS? I'd like say, so what if karisma was underappreciated before RH? at least filmmakers like mani ratnam & yash chopra were recognizing her talent from day one. and watch your sharp tongue once again oh u cannot? ROJA was very good film & critically successful. I wonder where is your point of view from here? because in other place you mention talent. don't u think a film which was appreciated in festival had at least one big talent from the director?
now the directors. and your argue has nothing to do with ash. SLB was noted as the next best thing after Khamoshi. but I know you will debate it. HDDCS was a good film (u know what? this is one of my all time fave Hindi films). with or without ash, his work really commendable. and btw do u know the maker of raja hindustani? dharmesh darshan wasn't a big director at time. he only had average hit like Lootere, he was never noticed by critics & media like SLB did. and then RH came. he said that he owe a lot to karisma. because according to him, karisma made RH became a blockbuster. fyi karisma was the most successful filmstar (actors-actresses) in 1996 with five of her films listed on top ten hits. half of the list are karisma's films.
lets not forget about ash association with salman khan. salman was one the superstars of 90s. that was more than enough to made her in the headlines everyday. she's surrounded by big names for the entire of her career in film. the only difference between ash & karisma is.... karisma needed no help from somebody to mark her calibre. she has worked with lowest-key filmmaker and still she gave a hit. remember prem qaidi anyone? her works in fiza, zubeidaa, shakti have proved that finally the day has come. not for her believer & well-wishers for sure. but for the detractors who have underestimated her for almost a decade. but I believe in what Shyam Benegal said "I have always considered her as an actress with tremendous untapped potential" and what Dilip Kumar said "karisma has untapped talent".
it's just the matter of time. nothing to do with family name. twinkle, bobby & many others are family kids too but look what happened to their careers. if you got talent, you'll be recognized. agree she has shared some really bad films in her career. but that's a normal phase. every actor from raj kapoor to amitabh, from dilip to srk, from nargis to rekha has had through this phase. better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.
i remember him also saying how easy aish was to direct. that she always had the perfect timing in everything.
so what she was a flop before hdds. plenty of actresses go through flops before they make it big. karishma was working in b grade movies for years. before Raja hindustani and dil to pagal hai came and brought her some credit. the movies you mentioned Roja and Parampara were nothing roles for the most part. sanjay was also a flop director before he met aish. he became abandoned after he stopped working with Aish.
LOL sure karishma didnt use anyone. truth is if she wasnt a kapoor chances are she would not even be in the industry. she prob does not have the brains to do anythig else. although she provides some good entertainment by making ppl laugh at her stupidity in reality shows. she would probs be some1 with the rakhi sawant status. even if an idiot struggled as hard as she did in the industry. they would prob get lucky at some point. and get a few good scripts were they can ham the life out the script and get acting acclaim. what talent are you talking about? she looks childish and stupid every time she tries to emote.
