Avengers: Endgame brought to an end a phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and director Joe Russo recently gave a sneak peek into the Marvel Studios' plans going ahead. Speaking about characters in the MCU, Joe Russo revealed that Marvel plans to introduce a character as gay in an upcoming film, reported PTI. Joe, who directed Endgame along with his brother Anthony Russo,  made the revelation during the Entertainment Weekly’s Morning Live show. He also suggested that the character to come out as gay is a person fans already know.

Joe Russo had a cameo in Endgame wherein he was in a scene with Steve Rogers aka Captain America grieving with a group in therapy after Thanos' snap. On the show, Joe was quizzed about his role and the director said, “It was an integral scene to show how the world was reacting to what happened in at the end of ‘Infinity War."

The presenter asked Joe if it was the first out gay character in a Marvel film, to which the director said, Yes, openly gay. “There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but this is the first openly gay character,” Joe added. The director was further asked if there would be any other gay characters. To this, Joe said, "Uhhh. We’re gonna find out."

His brother and director Anthony added, "That’s a story for another day." Well, we won't be surprised if this character surfaces sooner rather than later. Marvel chief Kevin Feige had said last year that two openly gay characters would be revealed soon.
