Captain Marvel becomes 10th highest grossing MCU release globally, dethrones Guardians of Galaxy

Captain Marvel is set in the year 1995 where U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers discovers her superpowers and leads to become Captain Marvel. This 21st film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will play a major role in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame.

Captain Marvel created a storm at the box office since the first day of its release. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, this first ever female superhero led film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has won hearts all over the world with its massive opening. The worldwide collection of Captain Marvel was recorded at $456.3 million in its opening weekend. For its second weekend, this film shattered on the records at the domestic as well as international box office as per the data on 17 March. The Brie Larson starrer collected $266 million at home leaving behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Ant-Man, Captain America: The First Avenger and The Incredible Hulk within ten days of its release. 

While on the international frontiers, the film surpassed other MCU release Guardians of the Galaxy ($773.3 million) and emerged as the tenth highest-grossing MCU release of all-time as well as is the sixth top-earning solo superhero film of all-time. Captain Marvel is rapidly climbing the ladder of records with its collection daily and it will be interesting to see whether it will cross the $1 billion mark worldwide and the records of Captain America: Civil War to become the sixth top grossing MCU film of all time.

In India alone the superhero film made $12 million in its ten days run time at the theatres which exhibits its huge reception it got from the Marvel fans in the country. Captain Marvel tells the story of Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and how she discovers her superpowers and the events that lead her to become Captain Marvel. The film also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg and Jude Law in pivotal roles. The film created a lot of buzz ever since Nick Fury pages Captain Marvel at the end of Infinity War post Thanos' snap and fans are excited to see what role she will play in the much awaited Avengers: Endgame which will release on April 26, 2019.

Interesting because it was average at best, quite disappointed in fact and nowhere near on par with GotG.
