The Dirty Picture of Rakhi
Rakhi Sawant is once again in the news for her controversial remarks. She also added, "Vidya Balan hasn’t done anything in The Dirty Picture. I will do better and hotter scenes in the Bengali remake. Even Vidya will be surprised after seeing my character. I will be better than her. The sari is meant to be taken off in films, not worn. Films become a hit because of this, not because of stars.” The film is being directed by Shatabdi Roy and produced by Tapas Paul. Are we looking forward to Rakhi's Dirty Picture? She may do bolder scenes but I doubt she'll be able to outshine Vidya Balan.

TDP had a good first half but an below average second half. Overall, the movie didn't create much of an impact, neither did the performances especially Vidya's. Doing Boob thrusts, biting lips (which is supposed to look erotic, looked comical to me), sex etc is not acting. Vidya does not suit these kind of roles. She's better in Paa or Kahaani.
Coming to Rakhi, there is a stark resemblance between Rakhi and Silk. Both come from similar backgrounds, both have similar stature in the industry. So it will be interesting to see how this will turn out.

Vidya performance was great in her others movies too but it didn't create that much hype.For me kahaani was way better movies than TDP atleast it had some originality and story

Well that should be interesting! Rakhi sure acts like she's fearless but is she brave enough to put on all those extra rolls of fat that Vidya donned for the role? Anyway I liked Vidya's portrayal a lot because she had a raw, earthy type of sensuality, she just seemed real in a way that I would imagine Silk was. Rakhi on the other hand, does she have any part left that can be called as "real"? Still it will be interesting to see how she plays it.
@Nabby H agree with you. the dirty picture's story was mediocre. i heard a lot about silk smitha's life prior to watching it but i felt that the explanation of the events of silk smitha's life was missed out in the film and that the producers and writers played it safely by following the predictable plot line - rise and fall. the story was rushed. there is more to silk smitha but what makes the film so great is undoubtedly vidya balan's performance in the film - anyone can do sleazy, bold scenes but vidya's expressions, emotions and even her confident dialogue delivery is something that cannot be matched by rakhi sawant ever. that's what essentially makes this film awesome. the other key success of the dirty picture was the dialogues by rajat arora - truly entertaining and different! this will go down as a cult classic. i applaud vidya for having the courage and conviction to pull of such a character - i saw a new vidya onscreen.
arina i agree with you for me dirty picture was an overrated movie no doubt
vidya did quite well but in the end it was all those sleazy scenes that made the movie a hit
why it worked out was i guess mainstream actress did this kinda role
we have seen these kinda movies like jolie main character played by neha dhupia but it
did nt work out
and rakhi is kinda right she knows what mostly audience want!!!

I mean...honestly it did not have an AMAZING story! I also could not watch it properly...(bcoz my mom was thr lol)....but I must say it was mainly because Vidya Balan's surprising acting skills! She totally got into the character!....The story is also good in a way..that it supports women like Helen/Silk Smitha...who were seen as "dirty" but actually .... it is also us - the audience....who likes to see these dirty moves...
Arina- a lot of people thought that the movie was good but the hype was regardless, too much around it. I thought the same. I think it's because of Vidya's breakthrough performance that left everyone stunned.

Ok I respect yours too.For me I didn't like the movie much and it was overrated.Anyway different people have different tastes and opinion..Nice to hear your opinion in a good way..Their should be more people like you in pv who doesn't bash people when they give their opinion..have a nice day:)

While I have no doubt Rakhi will expose herself more (how will she outdo herself??), I do believe that the reason DP was such a huge hit was because of everyone's acting and the story in general. There have been many girls who did movies in which they exposed, but how many of them were actual hits? I remember Jism, which was a phenomenal success; yes, exposure and hot scenes had a lot to do with it; but no one can forget the story or the acting. And then there were films like Paap and Aashiq Banaya Apne which flopped even though they had bold scenes. But I do like Rakhi and her dialogues :)
Arina, I think the success of The Dirty Picture is not based solely on the bold scenes. It was a lot based on Vidya's acting abilities and how she came out of her shell and did such a bold movie, unlike her past works. If films succeeded based only on "bold" scenes, believe me, there are SO many movies that based purely on such sleazefest but they do not become box office hits. Although I respect your opinion (as you are entitled to yours) but the film did have a storyline. It portrayed Silk Smitha's rise to fame, the peak of the career, and her fall as well. That too me and many others, is a story line. And true, the film has been written inspired from life experiences of someone but that doesn't mean that the film has no originality. Originality does not only mean that you create a completely new story with the figment of your imagination.
I hope this clarifies. Once again, you are entitled to your opinion as I am to mine.
I think she will beat Vidya not that she is better as an actress but she will be better doing those bold scene..look how she said the saris are meant to be taken off in film.Dirty Picture was mostly a hit because of the bold scenes.The film didn't have a good story neither it had any originality.
