The media has often cited the Bachchans to be the first family of Bollywood. For some reason, i don't really understand why. Is it just because Amitabh Bachchan is the head of the family. Even before Aishwarya became a part of their family, Big B, Ab Jr, and Jaya were considered the first family for some reason.
For me, the real FIRST family of Bollywood is the Kapoors. They were the ones who have actually been starring in movies from the start of Bollywood and up till now. Generations and Generations of Kapoors have contributed to Bollywood. Prithviraj Kapoor (Mughal-e- Azam), Raj Kapoor (the original showman), Rishi Kapoor ( superstar of the 70's and 80's), Shammi Kapoor ( Teesri Manzil), Sashi Kapoor ( Deewar), Randhir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor (the first girl in the history of Kapoor's to enter Bollywood and become a superstar), and Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor represent the Kapoors today.
It's actually funny that a film industry has "families". I guess it is a film fraternity. But, who do you think is the First Family of Bollywood? Bachchans or Kapoors?

which kapoor including raj or prithviraj kapoor will be made brand ambassador of two states? amitabh is a national icon. kapoors are not. amitabh alone is bigger than all the kapoors. abhishek's show got the highest trps. can ranbir or kareena? aishwarya was in pink panther she's most famous indian actress worldwide.....not kareena or any kapoor. jaya bachchan was national award winner and filmfare award winner also back when they used to count. Bachchans are so far ahead of the kapoor is every way.

Not many ppl noe this but Amitabh Bachchan actually made it BIG because of Jaya Bachchan (Badhuri at first) - She was a star in her time, much before Big B came and she helped me gain a place in the industry... after tht of course, he went on to become a big star n the rest is history.. But other than Big B, Jaya B and ash (who recently became a bachchan) - there's noone else in the family to go "WOW" abt. I like abhishek but he has still yet to reach where he should. Compared to this, the kapoors have done GREAT, each n everyone of them for 6-7 generations - So no doubt, Kapoors!

The kapoors have always been
The kapoors have always been considered the "first family" of bollywood, specially as they kind of started the industry and have remained at the top till date.
Its just that now with the abhi-ash wedding the bachahns are in the limelight that some people think differently.
But people should realise that in the kapoors it was each generation carrying the "kapoor blood" that has done well, ash doesn't have the bachahn blood so technically her doing well doesn't count, for that generation it is abhishek that needs to be considered and then his kid if it joins the industry, and I think kareena has made it to being a bigger star than abhi and even ranbir will most likely do better, he's had a great start already.
So conclusion, KAPOORS still win! :)

They are the original "moviewalas". I doubt that in any language in the world there is another family like Kapoors when it comes to loyalty to cinema and so many actors in one family. Not just the Bachchans, they cannot be compared to any other acting family in any country.
