Mahesh Babu's bank accounts seized by GST authority; details inside

Hyderabad’s Goods & Service Tax (GST) Commissionerate have frozen Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu's bank accounts. According to media reports, actor's two bank accounts have been seized by the GST authority over failing to pay tax for the financial year 2007-08. Mahesh Babu has reportedly not paid GST over his income of being a brand ambassador and advertising for promotion of products. Mahesh Babu who was last seen in Bharat Ane Nenu has apparently not paid Rs 18.5 lakh service tax for the financial year 2007-08. 

Bank has taken over two accounts of Rs 73.5 lakh of the actor which includes the interest and penalty are yet to be recovered. The press note reads that the actor didn't pay service tax "for taxable services provided by him as brand ambassador/appearance money/and advertising for promotion of products etc."

On the work front, Mahesh Babu is currently having a packed and busy schedule as he is shooting for his next 'Maharshi' in Hyderabad. Mahesh Babu will be seen in much leaner and stronger look in Maharshi which will hit the screens in April next year. The film stars Pooja Hegde in female lead.
