In October last year, the Me Too movement found its way in India after Tanushree Dutta shared the incident of sexual harassment by Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss in 2008. Her guts gave a lot of women to share their horrific stories of being sexually harassed and molested by people in the film and television industry. Many names such as Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Anu Malik, Rajat Kapoor, among others came out as sexual predators in the film industry.

One of the Bollywood directors who was accused of sexual misconduct was Sajid Khan. Post the sexual misconduct allegations on Sajid, he was eliminated as a director from Housefull 4 which was being shot at that time. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Sanon, and others in the lead roles. Sajid Khan was replaced by Farhad Samji as the director immediately.

In an interview with PTI, the director talked about replacing Sajid and how the shooting happened post that. He said, "It (taking over) wasn’t difficult at all. I was already writing screenplay and dialogues for the film. I have a habit of narrating a film with voice modulation, mimicry. I am also present on the sets. I was on sets even on the earlier schedules (of the film)."

Farhad added, "We were making a mad capper so the mood had to be that way from day one since I joined and started to shoot. So there was no question of any mood change. We had fun shooting it and we completed the film, laughing along the way."
