Saif Ali Khan's Official Statement about the assault case
There was an ugly incident last night where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted. I was hit and I defended myself. I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen. I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done. I have seen the interviews given on TV and they look like decent people and I cannot believe that the same people were so aggressive the night before and the lies that they are saying about me with such straight faces. I think they have the cc tv footage in the restaurant that will prove everything. I hope the media is able to remain impartial while the matter is being decided. I don’t think any gentleman would have behaved differently”

In response the comment below, this is a free country and if they were indeed talking about their sex lives to each other, then its entirely their business. Only someone dumb would think other people can only discuss what they find acceptable!!
If the guy didnt like over hearing the conversation, he should have moved to a different table. I would never accept anyone telling me what I can or can not talk about!

It is a free country, yet alone a free world. However there is this thing called decorum. They were at a restaurant, which I presume is a family restaurant and not some sling bar where you pick ppl up for some wham bam action. It's decorum, class, and common courtesy.

well the guy he punched is CEO in South Africa and Kareena, Amrita, their midget husbands Shakeel Ladakh and Saif were being loud and Iqbal Sharma (the guy who was attacked) complained to the management about it that's when the fight started. Saif was boosting about his status and connections and the funny thing is Iqbal didn't even know who Saif and Kareena were...hahahah

what?free country and having respect are two separate things.don't mix them up. the issue isn't so much what they were talking about but the lack of respect and self control.respect for other people sitting in close proximity to them that may not wanna hear certain subjects. IN CASE YOU DON"T KNOW: a free country also allows other people to object to offensive or inappropriate things they hear right? what you are referring to is not a free country or society but an immoral one where nothing matters. trust me you would not want live in that country.

Publicity or not, as a law bidding citizen, I would defend myself by punching the dude back...couple off drop kick in the face here and there....settle it man to man :D not involve some cops, who aren't gona do anything but write up few complaint stories.

Saif was hit first by Iqbal Sharma (the younger guy with the problem) and he reacted back to this in the same way & retaliated & hit back.
Shakeel Ladakh(Amrita Arora's husband) actually hit Ramanbhai Patel (the older man, father-in-law), and when Saif realised that this older guy is getting hurt and that is not right he stopped the fight, apologized to the older man out of respect & left the venue. He didn't apologise to that Iqbal guy cos he was a douchebag & he didn't deserve one.
I believe what Iqbal Sharma is saying...our stars are loud and attention seeking to say the least. This line - "dont you know who I am" is constantly thrown in our faces by them. I know this first hand. I had a certain Vice President's (of India) son come upto me at a hotel I worked for years back, and say- "Dont you know who I am.", when he was asked to remove his car from the porch since it was blocking the path for every one else. And I am like if you are the VP's son, does that exempt you from common courtesy.
Shah Rukh Khan made a hue and cry at a US airport - dont you know who I am.

Btown actors think they are above others. "Dont you know who I am"? is their favorite farting line. Preity Zinta had refused to show her ID at Chandigarh airport and when the security guard was just doing his duty she had flared up and asked "Dont you know who I am?"
