Shahid Kapoor on playing a smoker in Kabir Singh: I don't endorse smoking at all; the role required it

In an interview, Shahid Kapoor was asked about playing the role of a guy who is a chain smoker in Kabir Singh. Read to know what he has to say.

Shahid Kapoor is busy promoting his upcoming film, Kabir Singh. He stars alongside Kiara Advani in the film. The film is a remake of Telugu super hit film Arjun Reddy. As seen in the trailer, Shahid's character Kabir is shown very aggressively and violent. 

In the film, Shahid Kapoor's character smokes a lot. However, the actor doesn't endorse smoking in real life. He said, "I don’t endorse smoking at all. However, the role required it, as the protagonist uses it to channel his angst and rage. It wasn’t easy, and it came to a point where I smoked almost 20 cigarettes a day."

As seen in the trailer, Shahid's character Kabir is shown very aggressive and violent. In one of the scenes, he is seen getting mad at the maid when she breaks a glass. He then runs behind her to catch hold of her.

As reported by Mumbai Mirror, on The Kapil Sharma Show, the Haider actor was asked if he ever lost his cool in real life on his maid. Shahid revealed that after his marriage with Mira Rajput, she brought along several domestic workers with her.  He shared that he was the one who used to break glasses. He used to apologise to them also offered to clean the mess and broken pieces.
