Makkal Neethi Maiam (MNM) President Kamal Haasan on Tuesday hailed the air strikes carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The legendary actor took to Twitter to congratulate the air forces and the 12 men who wreaked havoc on the terror camps. The IAF carried out retaliatory attacks on early Tuesday morning and destroyed terror camps across the Line of Control in PoK, government sources informed. The IAF struck down three terror camps in Balakot, Muzaffarabad and Chakoti with the help of military jets and other IAF jets, reported PTI.

Actor and politician Kamal Haasan tweeted, "Our 12 return safely home after wreaking havoc on terrorist camps in Pakistan. India is proud of its heroes. I salute their valour." The actor had condemned the Pulwama terror attacks in which more than 40 CRPF jawans lost their lives in the line of service.

Actor Mahesh Babu, too, took to Twitter to salute the pilots of the IAF for the indomitable spirit. He wrote, "Extremely proud of our #IndianAirForce. Salutes to the brave pilots of IAF." Take a look at their tweets below:

The news of India's actions began trickling in the early hours of Tuesday morning and people across India lauded the government for taking a stand sooner than later.

Foreign Secretary, Vijay Gokhale, in a press conference today morning released an official statement saying, "Credible information was received that JeM was attempting other attacks in the country. A pre-emptive strike became important. India struck the biggest camp of JeM in Balakot. India is firmly and resolutely committed to taking all measures to fight the menace of terrorism. This non-military pre-emptive action was targeted specifically at JeM camp. The selection of the target was also conditioned by our desire to avoid civilian casualties.”
