Ever since Vicky Kaushal’s URI: The Surgical Strike hit the theatres, the film has been on a roll so much so that in just 14 days of its release, the film has already raked in Rs 133.79 crore. That’s right! URI has been a record breaker in so many ways and to begin with, in its second weekend, the film did more business than it’s opening weekend and that is a mark of excellence and speaks volumes of the film. Also, every film witnesses a drop in its business and talking about URI, the decline from week one to week two is a mere 12.22 percent.

If we talk about Sanju, Padmaavat, and Simmba, Vicky Kaushal’s film has trended better than three of the highest grossing films that released last year. Thanks to the box office collections, URI: The Surgical Strike has overshadowed the lifetime collection of Raazi (Rs 123.84 crore) and the film is inching towards the Rs 150 crore mark. According to Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh, “#UriTheSurgicalStrike remains super-strong, despite multiple new films... #RepublicDay holiday [today] should see big growth in biz... All set to cross  150 cr by Sun [Day 17]... [Week 3] Fri 4.40 cr. Total:  138.19 cr. India biz. #Uri #HowsTheJosh.”

With two new releases this weekend- Thackeray and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, it is being reported that URI will continue it’s march towards the Rs 150 crore mark and will not get bogged down by the news releases. As per Box Office India, the film had better collections than the new release Thackeray in practically all regions outside Maharashtra.

Since the film released on January 11, 2019, Uri - The Surgical Strike is still going very strong in its third week as it collected 4.50-4.75 crore nett on its third Friday, and therefore, this takes the collection of the film over 138 crore nett and looking at its upward trend, the film is certain to cross the 150 crore nett mark before the end of the weekend, as reported by BOI.

Now that Uri: The Surgical Strike has collected over Rs 138 crore nett, the next target for the film is to go past the lifetime collections of another medium-budget film titled Badhaai Ho starring Ayushmann Khurrana. And if the trending is still strong it might also beat Kangana Ranaut starrer Tanu Weds Manu Returns in the third weekend itself to become the highest grossing medium-budget movie of all time. The film is based on the 2016 Surgical Strikes conducted by the Indian Army against the Pakistani terror launch pads across the LoC and Vicky Kaushal’s film entered the Rs 100-crore club within just 10 days of its release. URI also stars Yami GautamMohit Raina and Paresh Rawal in key roles.
