Veteran Kannada actor Lokanath passed away on Monday, December 31st and celebrities have taken to Twitter to express their condolence.

In a disheartening news, veteran Kannada actor Lokanath passed away on Monday. According to media reports, the actor, 90, was suffering from age-related ailments. Addressed as ‘Uncle Lokanath’ by his fans, he breathed his last in the night past 12 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Fans of the actor can pay their last respects at Ravindra Kalakshetra, Bengaluru. The mortal remains of the actor will be kept and fans can pay last respects between 12 and 2.30 pm today.

The veteran actor has survived in the Kannada film industry for nearly six decades and has entertained with his powerful acting in over 600 movies and more than 1,000 plays. Lokanath made his acting debut with the film Samskara in 1970 and has worked with many biggies from Sandalwood. He has worked with Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Kamal Haasan, Shankar Nag and Ananth Nag among others. The movies he will always be remembered for are Nagarahaavu, Bhootayyana Maga Ayyu, Nodi Swami Navidru Heege, Katha Sangama and Kittu Puttu. He also acted in Malgudi Days TV series.
