Prajakta Koli’s journey reinstates the saying that hard work always leads to success. From being a radio jockey, who just ran into Hrithik Roshan for a picture, to becoming a social media star and finally signing on for projects with OTT giant and films for Karan Johar production, she has seen it all. She is making her debut in Bollywood with Jug Jugg Jeeyo alongside Varun Dhawan, Anil Kapoor, Kiara Advani and Neetu Singh and it’s a dream come true moment for her.
“I am definitely living the dream. I remember when our casting director called me to audition for this film and send across an audition tape. I felt it was too perfect and wouldn't work out. I just wanted to give an audition and forget it. But it did work out,” she exclaims, adding further that it did take some time for the reality to sink in. While she has acted in front of the camera on YouTube, transitioning into the professional set up, was different, but being an actor who has done theater, she managed to pass with flying colours.
Prod her on the on set atmosphere, considering that she was the newest and youngest member, and she shares, “It was very chill. I was nervous to be working with Anil Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Varun (Dhawan), Kiara (Advani). But I think, our director, Raj (Mehta) had a huge part to play in breaking the ice. He made me mingle around, he was just lovely in doing those meetings before we started the shoot. The vibe on set was very warm and welcoming. One thinks of them as big Bollywood stars, but once the camera starts rolling, they are just artists and love to perform.”
And finally, is she looking at a collaboration with her childhood favourite, Hrithik Roshan, now that she is making an acting debut in Bollywood? “Why not, can you ask him this? I would love to. I am sitting at my door step for that call to come,” Prajakta signs off.
