The Ganga Sharan Singh Award is a literary honour that the Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (Central Hindi Organisation), Ministry of Human Resource Development annually confers on writers of outstanding works in Hindi literature. It is also given to those who play an important role in promoting the Hindi language through their area of expertise.

For Madhur Bhandarkar, this is the fourth time he is receiving a Presidential award. In 2001 and 2005, he was conferred the National Film Award for Best Film for Chandni Bar and Page 3, respectively, by the then President APJ Kalam. In 2007, he was conferred the National Film Award for Best Director for Traffic Signal by the President.

When contacted, Bhandarkar said, "I am honoured. It's a great moment in my life."

Man the army officer behind him...should be preserved. As nowadays it’s just rubbish males and females lingering around. A beautiful and healthy man. These people get awards for nothing...I think people in India should just focus on irradiating poverty, taking initiatives to stop population from increasing. And preserving the country…whatever is left. Young generation should not watch these ridicules movies. I just don’t get it how can people of all ages watch such rubbish.
I think you have to be totally brain less to watch indian movies. These hero’s like sharukh, salman…man these are like old hags and how can someone even think in their right mind that they can portray heros at these old age’s…that too love movies.
I feel sorry for my country and these so called rich people who are just doing nothing except sucking whatever is left…
