Mumbai Police clear the air on reports that claimed they mistook actors for terrorists and made arrests

The Mumbai Police has denied arresting any men suspected to be terrorists, as claimed by a TV news channel on Wednesday night. The official Twitter account of the police department has said on Thursday, “Mumbai Police has not picked up any such persons. Kindly verify facts. ”The media outlet of TV9 Gujarati on Wednesday reported, that Mumbai Police had arrested two men dressed as bombers from Palghar near Mumbai.

The police were informed by a bank watchman and an ex-Border Security Force soldier. Later on, the men, named, Balram Ginwala and Arbaaz Khan, turned out to be extras in a Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff film, the report thus claimed. From the official Twitter account of the channel, a photo of the two actors was posted. The tweet read, “After an hour-long search operation, #Mumbai police arrested 2 men suspected to be terrorists, but later turned out to be extras on the sets of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's upcoming action film. #TV9News."

The Mumbai Police’s has clearly rubbished the media claims has evoked a variety of reactions on Twitter. Some members of Twitter are all praises for the police department for clarification in such a matter, others claim the news to be true. Among the ones reacting, are those who are slamming the Mumbai Police for their delayed post. The film in question is a Yash Raj Films production, which is going to be a high dance and action film. The Siddharth Anand directorial venture stars Vaani Kapoor as its female star. It is slated to hit the screens on October 2 this year.
