Superstar Vijay Sethupathi who recently received international recognition for his role in the film Super Deluxe, has said that he will not be opting out of the upcoming biopic based on Sri Lankan spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan. The actor recently received the Best Actor award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for the film, Super Deluxe where he portrayed a transexual character. While talking about the Muttiah Muralitharan biopic, the actor said that the story is from the spinner's point of view.

When the makers of this film announced that Vijay Sethupathi will be essaying the legendary spinner's role in the film, many pro-Tamil organisations criticized the actor for taking up the role. The actor was called out on signing this film based on the life of Sri Lankan spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan. But, now Vijay Sethupathi has said that he will go ahead with the film and will not at any cost give away this role for the demands of the pro-Tamil organisations who want Vijay to opt of this biopic.

During an interview with Tamil radio channel in Australia, megastar Vijay Sethupathi said that the story of the biopic revolves around the life of the Sri Lankan spinner, Muttiah Muralitharan which also has elements of integration within it. The film's story according to the actor is very impactful and needs to be told. The actor also adds that if he has to speak on a topic like Kashmir or any other subject, he will put it out there in the public domain. The Muttiah Muralitharan has a great story and should be made for the big screen.
