I can't say I feel bad for the people offended by this song, and how offended--LOL. Such an uproar among south indians, poor hunny bunny singh.... and people saying that why doesn't bollywood sterotype punjabies---well honey where you been???? Punjabies are sterotyped before anyone else in bollywood, south indians have it easy compared to punjabies.

-----------------
you are not mocked at honey. But the typical loud hurtful punjabi aunty is seen everywhere ... Again they are shown as out of the world sherssss.the reason ? punjabis form the main audience so u need grandoise them

Are you aware of Salman-SRK patch up ?? The breaking news world wide...:D :D

@Sharon_Diva, I agree. They should not have named it as a "Tribute to Rajni fans" or "Rajnikanth" because tribute is a big word and like Sat, 2013-07-20 07:48 — Anonymous said....they should have included things (such as - clips, musics, dance steps, dialogues) related to Rajnikanth. So, we should not really call this a "tribute."

P.S ---- I am not South Indian and nor have I seen many Rajnikanth movies but IMO this song does not live up to my expectations of a "tribute" to a superstar. Otherwise, it is a fun promotional song.

Something like this might look Ok on young actors like Ranbir or Ranvir, but for 48 year old man it looks desperate and disgusting. Wish our ageing actors would desist from behaving like such fools. An older mans attraction is in his dignified and mature personality and in not wearing ripped jeans and v-necked T-shirts and prancing around. SRK looked good and attractive as the quite and dignified actor playing his age in JTHJ and also chak de but looks silly here. The same goes for all 40 plus actors, please play your age.

Ah! Bollywood please come out of the stereotyping mentalitiy already. The song is not funny at all.

how about we ask dhanush/asin to make a tribute to amitabh bachchan with a pan song where everyone chews pan with pan drooling of their mouths and spit on each other :-P

The movie is going to flop just because of this song. Seriously SRK what were you thinking?
Do not include this in your movie!!!!

This song is more of a huge slap of Rajnikant's face and less of a tribute. You want to honor him, then how about dance the way he does in a nice song and show us some glimpses of the movies that he has done through posters and what not. This just ridicules him. Kashmir to kanyakumari is a better song and actually focuses on south Indian culture until the part where Deepika starts dancing in a lungi but still that would've been better than this. And another thing, as hot as Deepika looks wearing the shirt and lungi, I felt that was unnecessary and didn't quite go well with the song.

punjabisation of Bollywood has made them narcissists!!! Before they were associated with silky robes and tractors. My roommate has reached the stage where she feels me as a south indian should feel what she feels about us.

I have seen in many forums where they say its a national dress of llungi and why do SI wear lungi whereas lungi is worn by all.If you read books from 1940's and back in rural Punjab even women wore....They r busy denying their rural culture our people dnt change

Even I don't understand what kind of tribute this is to "Rajni fans" !!!!
I am a Rajnikanth fan..I can watch his movie Muthu , Padeyappa , Bhasha anytime .I respect him offscreen for his conduct and dare to comeout without makeup and wig !!!
Atleast this isnt a tribute to me !!
May be for Lungi and Nariyal Pani huh

Ahahaha all South Indians are offended.
Now u think it's stereotyping. How about when they show sardars just doing balle balle, as if that's the only things sardars know

Guys you are misunderstanding, it is not a tribute to the culture of South India. We can say "Titli" and "Kashmir Mein Tu Kanyakumari" are tributes to culture of South India, but this one is a tribute to Rajnikanth fans, not even Rajnikanth himself. When you will see the video, you will know what I mean.

I know this song won't be in the film and it just for fun and all. People should relax and vishal should shut up. This is not part of the film's soundtrack. Simple.

I don't think this has been sanctioned by the Chennai Express team at all. This seems like someone just taking advantage of the opportunity and using SRK, Deepika and the Chennai Express name.

@ Owaid, I guess the following filmmakers and actors were/are desperate too if we go by that logic.

    Honey Singh's Bollywood soundtracks:
    Cocktail (song: Main Sharabi)
Son of Sardaar (Song: Rani Tu Mein Raja)
    Khiladi 786 (Song: Lonely Lonely)
Race 2 (Song:Party on My Mind)
    Etc.

He is also said to be doing a song for Ranbir Kapoor starer Besharam.

Lost my respect for SRK.....I am such a big fan of SRK as a human...than actor.......He used to talk about MARD initiative....Respecting girls..etc......Then he casted This RAPE-PER......did'nt srk get the meaning about the raps that he does.....Such hypocrisy.......And this is a tribute...?? So stereotyped song...if it was for punjabis....would have they sung about...makki ki roti..saag...daaru....chicken....pagrdi...bhangra...?? Shahrukh ...its really sad ...that u casted him...just for commercial purposes...

Well its just like how north india is stereotyped, such as the sardars--always shown to be loud and cheesey. Bollywood is the king of stereotypes.
