Bollywood more often than not going gaga over a Hollwood/western star is once again proved by Oprah's comment - "I have not had this many pictures taken in god knows how long". Oprah first met Gregory David Roberts(author of Shantaram, who set up charitable foundations in Mumbai to assist the city's poor). He showed her around the slums of Mumbai and they both visited a Hegde family who lives, eats, cooks and sleeps in a 10-foot-by-10-foot concrete room.
You are right once though, Oprah did focus on their spirit rather than on their hardships.
In the next segment Oprah visits an upper middle class family to understand how different generations live happily under same roof. This is where she first had her traditional Indian meal.
In the third and final segments they showcased Oprah visiting Tarun Tahliani (for saree fitting), Jalsa and finally the bash hosted by Parmeshwar Godrej and her husband Adi.
No reason for you to jumble the order. Its not always about these actors especially when the show is all about India.
India is the most beautiful country in the world! Our country has muslims, hindus, sikhs, christians. In fact, we have every single religion practicing. Our foods, clothes, culture is full of color. Mashallah. Proud to be indian.

this is the party where Priyanka got royally ignored and humiliated by all the star wives. PC left the venue in tears, before everybody else.

I was one of the fortunate ones to have got to watch Oprah's episode on India. Since it is not yet uploaded I will try explaining what I saw.
Highlights
*The episode focused less on Bollywood and more on the "REAL India"
*Firstly they showed clips of Oprah visiting the Bachchan residence Jalsa. Oprah wanted
cameras inside the house but the Bachchans politely refused the cameras to enter their
home. So whatever we see of the Bachchans is when Oprah enters and leaves their home.
*Oprah then briefly talks about Aishwarya's beauty and popularity. Shows clips from Abhi
and Aish's movies. But no new interviews from Aish or Abhishek.
*Oprah also talks about Aaradhya. Saying she is just as gorgeous as the parents and that
she glows from within. But unfortunately not even a small peek of the Beti B.
*Then we enter the Bollywood bash thrown for Oprah, where everyone, from small starlets
to big stars like Priyanka and Shahrukh, are desperately vying to pose with Oprah like
we normal people do when we see moviestars.
*Focus then shifts to the "REAL India" - The slums, the poor people. But what is laudable
is the fact that Oprah focuses not on the poverty or the hardships that people face, but
the spirit and hope with which they live. There are a few stories of a few families which
got me teary eyed.
All in all, a truly inspiring episode! Apparently, this is just the first episode on India
and there are three more to come. So awaiting those as well.

What nonsense HATERS are talking here. Aishwarya has been featured in the first episode. You don't see it here in this clip and it has not been put on the OWN website yet...'cos Oprah knows everyone is waiting to see it. There's a big part in the show that comes just before this b'wood party where Aishwarya and abhishek have been featured, Oprah talks about Aishwarya's beauty and popularity here....calls them the BRANGELINA of the east and many scenes of their movies have been shown. They also show Oprah entering and exiting the Bachchan household etc etc... Oprah also talks about Betib. She said that she wanted to take the cameras inside the Bachchans house......but they did not allow that.
Want that video to be out soon so that The haters can Burnnnnnn...

Oprah asked the Bachchans if it was okay to take her camera crew inside their home but they politely refused and said no cameras in their house. No wonder we could not get a peek of Aaradhya :(

Parmeshwar in those awkward western clothes from another era; Oprah in the timeless saree...shows our fetish for everything western - black or white hot or cold. Slave Indians!
Wow Bollywood is filled with wannabes, big surprise. They all wanted a picture with her to show they are important and had met a god. Only AR acted with self-respect.
I guess we got to see all these pple as her fans n not Bollywood Celebrities hence the mad rush for everyone to get their pictures taken with her. Also she wsnt there that long so pple ddnt wanna miss out. As for all the idiots saying Ash is in the background, well she is happy being in the background. Ash has already met Oprah, a few times so dsnt need to be in the limelight! Oprah looked great in the Sabyasachi saree towards the end.
Oh please ... why would Oprah visits with The Bachchans at the party when she had already spent time with them at their house. It looks like a fun party. I wish I was there.

What are you smoking? These stars don't want to be on her show! They will be famous whether they are on her show or not. They won't get more movie deals or endorsements because they are on her talk show. If anything, Oprah is the one in need of having these stars on her show so she can get viewership and thus boost her ratings!

That was fun to watch! I love oprahs enthusiasm.
I don't see the big deal in what the hostess is wearing or her hair color...why should her fashion choices be held back by her culture or ethnicity...? I think the hospitality they showed Oprah is nice...she is a big deal...and as artists they know that...the truth is the world is becoming a village...and having this big American star visit bolly is an example of that...
