Sonam responds to misinterpretation on her statement on Katrina
I was shocked myself when I read about the conteroversy, so can't complain when Sonam Kapoor took to twitter to clarify her statement on Katrina. While at Cannes Sonam Kapoor had made a very naive statment that she wants to give Katrina a bouquet. When asked why, she said: "I don't know how she does it. You need a certain kind of commitment and a certain kind of shamelessness to do certain things." The next thing you know there were headlines in the media reading - Sonam Kapoor calls Katrina Kaif "shameless" . Today, Sonam Kapoor took to twitter to clarify her stand - "I'm so over being misinterpreted.. How can some select media take a compliment made to someone and make it into a controversy..." After you go through Sonam's interviews one can only say that she needs to choose her words wisely. Sometimes her words and statements can be completely misinterprested because of the way she frames her sentences. Agree?

I often have the same problem as Sonam, when I am searching for the exact right word, think I've found it, and have actually left myself totally open to misinterpretation.
When I saw the interview, I got what she meant by 'shameless' - bold, uninhibited, willing to really run with a role even if it's only to shake your hips. And there is something admirable in that, which I think Sonam was trying to acknowlege.
I think another problem is that in that for the Indian audience, shameless = besharam and the connotations are of inappopriate sexual brazenness, so it seems as though she is accusing Katrina of having no morals for doing these roles in these films, when Sonam herself has done one ('Players' was pretty much just 'Race').
I feel the compliment is pretty backhanded in the first place, though we'll never know to what degree Sonam intended it to be.

Why don't you learn to write proper sentences before you strut about proclaiming how well educated and literate you are. Everybody here got it, we only want her to choose better words so that she is not misconstrued.

Obviously Sonam is jealous of Katrina's success which is due to Katrina's professionalism and hard work. Sonam is too busy wearing expensive designer clothes all the time.

I saw that interview and her english isn't too great. She couldn't even construct complete sentences :S.
This one is on Sonam. Her word choice was horrible. I understand what she was trying to say, but she did a terrible job of getting her point across. Instead of complaining about being misinterpreted, she should just clarify and move on.
I think she intentionally makes malicious comments, it's the india media and their need for drama who nitpick or totally turn the celebrities' words around. Sonam tends to speak before she thinks so some of the things she says come off as being harsh but if she were to say them diplomatically would that change the meaning any less?

I think Katrina, despite her success, has her feet on the ground, coz she actually comes from a humble background and struggled for her success. Unlike the star-kids.

Like I said earlier you can't teach some people any culture or finesse even though they are strutting around in designer clothes and designer makeup

I think some of Katrina's dance moves are "shameless". Sonam just called it as it is and is now trying to back paddle.
For the record, I like watching Katrina act any day over Sonam.
