Abhi-Ash named India's No.1 Power Couple!
Bollywood’s golden couple Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have been bestowed with the recognition of ‘No.1 Power Couple’ by the esteemed Stardust magazine. The mega stars got the title recently at the launch of the latest issue of Stardust in Delhi. Abhishek and Aishwarya graced the occasion as they lifted the veil off to reveal their own photos as the cover page. Abhishek and Aishwarya tied the nuptial knot around 4 years back on 20th April, 2007. Since then, the two have had an amazing off-screen chemistry and they always look head over heels in love with each other whenever they are spotted together. The couple is hugely popular amidst the Bollywood movie lovers. They are big stars and have carved out a niche for themselves in the film industry. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan leapt into fame after winning the Miss World pageant in 1994. Since then there has been no looking back as she climbed the ladders of fame via her big ticket to the B-town. Abhishek Bachchan made his Bollywood debut around 10 years back with Refugee. But over the years, he and Aishwarya have starred in a plethora of films. Though the two look spectacular together off-screen, it is ironic that their on-screen chemistry has been mostly ‘thanda’ (cold). However, in Mani Ratnam’s Guru they, indeed, looked fabulous together and the camaraderie was extremely great. Abhishek and Aishwarya add star value to the Bachchan family that is led by Amitabh Bachchan considered as one of the greatest actors of all times. Money, popularity, a sea of fan following, films, endorsements, good looks and repute, they have got it all. Hence, it’s no doubt that Abhi-Ash do deserve the ‘Power Couple’ title. **This is NOT the first time that they're being called the power couple. However, I got a problem with this. A power couple is one in which both the partners contribute equally and then they exude so much power that they edge out other couples in the race. The latter might be true but the former part is where the problem lies. Let's be honest! Abhishek's contribution to getting this title is not even 20%. Replace Abhishek with any other unsuccessful actor with a filmy background, the story would still be the same. Before those fanclubs attack me... No, I'm not saying that they do not deserve to be the numero uno 'Power Couple'. I think they do. But Abhishek still has a long way to go to match up to his partner's success.

For me " Power" or the word " star" refers to those people who are able to draw attention to themselves wherever they go or appear or automatically get attention coz their name is mentioned means " power and star value"
It could be criticism or postive comments, yet the very fact that we take the time to read and write abt them in length for innumerable pages means they have a " star value " to them.
Coming to ash, she def qualifies in the above mentioned criteria. She has been in the industry for several years, made a name for herself, draws attention both in india and abroad, recognized abroad and acknowledged by hollywood stars and brands, popular all over india, has managed to survive in the industry for the most part without the help of " bollywood power players or group" namely the khans, kapoors etc.
acclaimed directors like mani ratnam, slb, shankar have cast her repeatedly . Looking at all this, ofcourse she has power and can be considered a powerful star.
akshay kumar gave flops all over yet people cant deny he is a power player, same goes to kat and salman as well considering he hasnt won an award for the last 20 odd years he has been in the industry.
Ajay-kajol are good actors but for me they do not have that star power that pulls u to them...theres something called charisma or power that should pull u to them
maybe thats why they gave the couple " power couple". Abhishek is still in the industry doing films as a lead inspite of the innumerable dismal flops, he still has endorsements, one cant ignore that either.

Raavan got 70% positive reviews. Though Abhishek was criticized, Aishwarya was the showstealer in the film.
The film was too ahead of its time and was not meant for the audience which loves trash like Housefull and Golmaal and Tees Maar Khan.

he's a sorry symbol of india's obsession, and so is the rest of this family. his dad, who's worshipped in india like the shiva linga, has become so tacky he's publicly defending his son's mediocre films. i thought amitabh bachchan with his clipped convent accent had a little more class than that. his wife (whose breasts are visibly enhanced as generously shown at cannes - why don't you try wearing that at filmfare, slut) tried to rope in katrina for his next film (he's so far gone the film has to hinge on katrina's box-office luck - is that funny or is that funny) but to no avail. he doesn't stand out in any way, it seems all he does is tell the press that his pa is the best and that his wife is so perfect. he can't even grow some balls and be candid on talk shows. this family can't get anymore predictable or pretentious. how seriously can you take a 34 and 37 yr old who pepper their statements with "ma and pa" this, ma and pa" that. who the fck are they, the brady bunch?

***Saifeena did three films together, all flops - tashan was a flop, LOC that movie had so many pple in it dont think u can call it a flop! Kurbaan was a critical succes & was only praises fOR kareena-saif!!!

I wouldn't say they are not the No.1 couple. They easily are. Of the current couples, like Saifeena, Salman-Katrina (that is if they're still together), Ajay-Kajol... AbhiAsh easily are the numero uno.
SRK-Gauri, Hrithik-Sussane etc are ruled out because the other half pretty much doesn't contribute anything.
Actually, if we consider hits, AbhiAsh have been luckier than the other couples. Saifeena did three films together, all flops. Ajay-Kajol did about 10 films together - 90% flopped, Salman-Katrina too have only flops together except for Partner. Abhi-Ash had Guru, Dhoom 2, Sarkar Raj as hits. Even their special appearance together in BnB as 'Kajra Re' was a chartbuster and even went to the extent of making that average film work at the BO. But of course, they do not share the best chemistry on-screen. Abhishek has chemistry with Rani and Aishwarya has the best chemistry with Hrithik.
However, I don't think 'Power couple' tag is about giving hits together. It is about how powerful a superstar you are individually and how big a brand you two become when you come together. The former part is where Abhishek fails miserably. He has to work a lot harder to match up to his wife.

i completely understand aishwarya being associated with "power" but i think it is mockery to even consider abhishek in that category! its insane! he has literally achieved nothing in his life...i know that sounds mean..but he really hasn't! he is a flop actor..and is only popular right now because of his wife n surname...
i think it should be kajol and ajay....

ummmmm do people really even like them.....i personally know only one person who likes them.....and i have a HUGE family and friend circle!!!.....most of them either hate aish or hate abhi or just dont like them both....i am pretty sure the magazine decided this by themselves....if there was a real polling i doubt they would have been chosen....
