Madhuri And Sridevi are legends...but Kajol is not far behind:)....
ppl started "actually" recognising Sridevi (as a very good actress) with Mr India , there was hardly any compitition thn.... no other actressess of that time like Rekha, Jaya prada, Meenakshi sheshadri, Dimple were really active... That was the time when lots of new faces were introduced .She was the best till Madam Dixit came and conquered millions of hearts.
Madhuri Quinessential from the whole bollywood peroid not only 90's decade...Phenonomenon of the hindi cinema...She gave almost 15 hit movies consecutive years with absolute dancing skill...utter mesmerising beauty and smile.....incredible acting style...Rock the nation from 1988 to 2002 with absolute and pure stardom.

Divya bharti was the best. and most producers and directors say that if she was alive then she would jave been at the top. so divya bharti all the way for me.

Her critically acclaimed performances came in Sadma (1983), Mr. India (1987), Chaalbaaz (1989), Lamhe (1991), Khuda Gawah (1992) and Gumrah (1993) but these films were at best, average successes (Chaalbaaz was a moderate success, Lamhe failed in India but did well overseas, Khuda Gawah recovered its costs- ditto for Gumrah). It becomes clear that she was at the top (undisputed) from 1987-1989, with 1983-1986 marking her years unto ascendance and 1990-1992 being fraught with competition from Madhuri Dixit.
Madhuri Dixit delivered hits like Tezaab (1988), Ram Lakhan (1989), Tridev (1989), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Raja (1995), Dil to Pagal Hai (1997) and Devdas (2002). She was given critical acclaim for her roles in Mrityudand (1997), Pukar (2000) and Lajja (2001), but these again, were average successes. (Mrityudand did not do well in many northern but recovered its costs, Pukar was above average and Lajja did good business overseas.) She was at the top (undisputed) from 1993-1996, with 1988-1992 marking her years unto ascension and post-1997 being marred by a spate of delays and failures.
In totality, Madhuri Dixit had the hits, but Sridevi's charisma held her tightly at the number one position for a slightly longer tenure.
The other heroines were good, but these two were the best.
I like Sridevi but Juhi Chawla is my all time favourite! She is a legend just like Sri and I love her so much. Madhuri and Kajol are highly overrated actresses

Madhuri Dixit used to get all the credit for the film's success, even though the film was not exactly around her character. And Salman Khan's presence did nothing for her in HAHK...the entire film virtually ran on her steam. Sridevi gave great performances in Lamhe, Laadla and Judaai, but Madhuri gave both great and widely accepted performances in every film. Sridevi was an extremely experienced and therefore talented actress. Yet Madhuri overtook her in the mass acceptance department by 1993. Credit goes to Madhuri.

Divya Bharti, just look at that picture she was breath taking and if she was still alive she for sure would have been a legend, she was truly beautiful and most importantly talented, if only she didn't die but oh well she is the best.

Sridevi wasn't exactly an actress from 90s she was more from the 80s but the best, her biggest weakness is that she's very shy in real life and could not promote herself outside films like others r doing these days! Juhi was the other one and only actress in front of who "The Khans" looked dull! remember "hum hai rahi pyar ke" and "one 2 ka 4" she actually overshadowed both aamir and shahrukh with her comedy timing.
Juhi chawla has always been criminally neglected by the industry! She deserved many awards that eventually went to lesser actresses! But she has always taken this in her stride and continues to do good work that speaks volumes! She is a wonderful friend and human being! May her star never dim!

Sridevi, Madhuri, Sonali, Divya, Kajol, Manisha, Juhi, Raveena, etc were all good in their own way.
Someone said that Sridevi was nowhere in the mid 90's but then even juhi and madhuri's reign was till about 95, after that kajol, karishma took over.
Sridevi gave Lamhe, Khuda Gawah, Laadla, Gumrah and Judaai in the 90's. Extremely acclaimed or box office hits. She had a huge fan following that ensured that all her films opened big, if they flopped the movies lacked in quality, but it was never about her waning popularity. She has become bigger than the movies she acts in and that was dangerous because the expectations of her films were very high. Even today her fans, who r pretty hardcore, are looking forward to her comeback movie 'English Vinglish'.
