Wedding bells are ringing once again in Hema Malini's home. After Hema Malini's elder daughter Esha Deol married businessman Bharat Takhtani last year, it is little sister Ahana's turn this time.

Ahana got engaged to Delhi businessman Vaibhav Vohra at a quiet ceremony at Hema Malini’s Juhu bungalow, today. Only family and a few close friends attended this celebration.

Buzz is that this is a love-cum-arranged match. Ahana and Vaibhav met some years ago when love struck. Vaibhav works for his family business, a Logistics Management company named Continental Carriers.

Ahana, apparently was never interested in Bollywood. She was operating a small studio at her home, besides performing with her mom at dance concerts.

So, it is shaadi time in Bollywood yet again! Many congratulations to the newly engaged couple!

Good that Hema Malini didn't exert too much pressure on her daughters to succeed as movie stars, the way her own mother had done to her ! Hema's mother used to literally push Hema into a room and locked the room for her to practice her dance when she was young, because she wanted Hema to succeed like Vyjayanthimala, the family's idol... and when the time came, she left no stone unturned in Chennai and Mumbai to get her daughter into films... One FIERCELY ambitious mother she was!!!! Very, very unrelenting... Hema Malini has alluded to the harsh treatment by her disciplinarian mother in some of her earlier interviews and in some more recent interviews she has also said that she doesn't want her daughters to go through the kind of drudgery she had to in order to succeed... Finally it was thanks to dancer Padma Subrahmanyam's father K. Subrahmanyam, the pioneering film director that Hema Malini was able to get noticed by the film makers in Chennai and Mumbai and eventually get a role in Raj Kapoor's film "Sapnon Ka Saudagar".. It was also because she got cast in this film that the "dreamgirl" tag came about .. Not for any other reason... (Of course she was good looking too). Anyway, it was really thanks to the late K.Subrahmanyam that Hema malini is where she is today ! Not sufficient acknowledgement has been made of this fact in the English and Hindi media.. Hema malini's family really owe BIG thanks to that great man K.Subrahmanyam who also made some very good movies ...

LOL, most weddings in India seems to be based of so called family prestige, cash value, caste system, etc...can they just marry someone just because that person is great without having all the additional so called stuff...

Your comment was the most sensible one here. Couldn't agree more. Seems to me that valuable virtues that were once held in high esteem like truthfulness, loyalty, kindness, integrity are not even considered anymore. Not generalizing but majority of them are drawn to people with wealth and good looks in a heartbeat. And neither traits are permanent especially the latter.

hema is a tam brahm and she married a jat sikh man! caste or religion always dont matter
however in arranged marriages these things will matter because india is a hierarchical male dominated society not an egalitarian one the day our 'des' becomes egalitarian your dream will come true! till then our young people will find it tough to marry for love

It is interesing that heroines go after married men when there are so man eligible single men in and outside the industry. In the film industry, there are actors like Shahid, Ranveer, Arjun, Ranbir, Varun, Aditya Roy, etc who are single. Hope Deepika, Katrina, Parineeti, Bipasha etc marry sensibly.

To the one commenting about accents, may i point out that everyone in india speaks english with some accent or the other, based on their mother tongue.

read my comment fully "not a bad thing just saying" its NOT A BAD THING for hema to speak with her tamil accent. i said that in response to someone who pointed out hema has lost touch with her tamil roots.

Hema Malini has moved further and further away from her South Indian and Iyengar heritage, first by becoming a Muslim, then "marrying" Dilawar Khan, then getting her first daughter married to a Sindhi and now, getting her second daughter engaged to a Sindhi... Hema's father was a very conservative man, simple, learned and pious, who always wanted Hema to marry an Iyengar... Had he lived to see her "marry" a much-married Dilawar Khan, he would have had a heart attack, probably... He was very much against Bollywood and its heroes, and was very much against Hema even joining films.. But sadly, he didn't have his way.. His wife Jaya Chakravarthy had her way. She wanted Hema to join films and become famous like Vyjayanthimala, another actress from a conservative Iyengar family. However, Vyjayanthimala, though she married a much married Punjabi has moved back to her south Indian roots, Her son too has married an Iyengar. Of Hema's two brothers, one married a Gujarathi and his son married a Punjabi girl. The other brother married an Iyengar and one of his daughters seems to be the only one in the second generation who wants to marry an Iyengar ! And she is quite a well accomplished architect too, and has nothing to do with Bollywood
    ------------------------------

what dilawar khan? we all know hema is a very very religious woman. And people in India misuse this conversion fool the legal system .They don't mean anything to these kinda people.Unless u r getting goosebumps from her conversion. Its valid only for people who would like to believe that she has infact converted , for ppl like that that such another scene.

And talk abt iyengar, that such a small community and for an actress it always better to marry a man frm the industry. Not every one is lucky like Madhuri

Behind this, I see a discounted wife, Hema Malini. She married a man who was already married and was still IN the marriage. She and Dharam had quite dramatic marriage. I don't think it was good experience for Hema and she probably realized it very quickly. You can see it in Esha's very very traditional marriage. I think Ahana will also have a such one. Sense prevailed over Hema. She was so beautiful that she could have had many good men at her feet. Anyway, she did wonderful job as a mother.

Aww, she was always so low key, guess she is definitely not entering bollywood ever.

Both sisters married attractive young businessmen, outsiders to film industry, it has to be because of how Dharam treated Hema. Not to mention both their half-brothers had extramarital affairs too, not very good role models for the girls growing up. Lessons well learnt.
