Since the past one week, there has been an uproar from women activists all over the country on the 'Heroine' controversy on Aishwarya being discriminated on a 'disease' called pregnancy. Now the whole industry is ganging up in support of Aishwarya.

Sushmita Sen had this to say - "Aishwarya has always been known to be a beautiful woman. She has brought great laurels to our country. Both of us are international winners. She is a beautiful woman who is going to be a mother, and that will increase her beauty manifold. She will be a very beautiful mother. I am very happy for her, Abhishek and the entire family. God bless the baby."

When questioned about whether there should be a pregnancy clause in films - "I would show the producer the door if he gets a clause like that. I don't believe what I do outside my job is anybody's business."

The fiery Sush has exposed the double standards of the industry. "My take on the Ash- pregnancy clause issue is simple: If producers want to include a no pregnancy clause then they should do it across the board for even male actors. If terms have to be dictated to female actors then even male actors should be told not to have a baby while their film is being shot. Come on, it’s the 21 st century, boss, equal rules should apply for everyone."

Aamir Khan - "I don't think Aishwarya is unprofessional. I think she would not like that one person's absence jeopardizes everybody else's chance on the set."

Smriti Irani, the topmost Television star, shared her experience about how she got pregnant during the filming of her show and how the producers accomodated it and made it easier for her to shoot an action sequence in the 8th month of her pregnancy instead of making an issue out of it, saying a similar appoach could have been met with in this case too.

Amitabh Bachchan - "The matter is between the producer and Aishwarya. I always give the example of Jaya. We found out that she was pregnant during the shooting of Sholay. Ramesh Sippy (who directed the film) decided to stall her part of the shooting till her delivery."

Raj Kumar Santoshi, who was supposed to begin filming his next film 'Ladies and Gentlemen' with Aishwarya in August happily agreed to postpone the film for the sake of Aishwarya's well-being - "It is a film that I had written keeping her in mind. For now, the movie has been postponed to next year. She is a talented and beautiful artiste and this period should be treated as her maternity leave."

Katrina Kaif - "I think we are all her family. The film industry is like her family. And we don't have to get so harsh on things. We should all work together as friends."

Shahana Goswami, Aishwarya's co-star in 'Heroine' also poured in support for Aishwarya quoting the example of Penelope Cruz, who shot for the entire schedule of the Pirates of Caribbean being pregnant.

The Cine Employers Association says it will support Aishwarya if she files a complaint against UTV & Madhur Bhandarkar.

"Remember Sanjay Leela Bansali had high hopes and he commented Ash is my muse. And there was not even a fly in the theater to see that movie"

Anon, I'm sure you meant not even kuttas went to see the film. Though no flies probably went, either.

Anonymous's picture

As far as Sush's comment - I really like this lady. She has high standards (that's why she is not that sucessfull in Bolywood). She is just wishing Ash and her family, she is really not commenting on this issue. She is looking Ash thru her own eyes. She doesn't grasp the fact that Ash and company is shrewd and calculating.

Aamir Khan's comment - I can't even make any sense what he said.

Amitabh - It's different when you get pregnant during the movie- bahu rani was aready pregnant. Don't they think when they say something or write something, or their brain only work in signing up films and contracts

Raj Kumar Santoshi - Good luck for waiting for her. After the baby the results are going to be not as good as Guzaarish. Remember Sanjay Leela Bansali had high hopes and he commented Ash is my muse. And there was not even a fly in the theater to see that movie

One Hell of A SuperStar - Countrywide there is connection and interest in anything Ash does.

Anonymous's picture

That is the power of Ash and amitabh -- somehow ppl always feel she is right and should be supported no matter it is her fault,be it Salman case, Sahrukh case and now this.

"We should work together as friends"?? Seriously, Katrina doesn't really have an opinion. She wants to come off as an airhead to the male audience, but she's actually being really diplomatic. Smart gal.

man women across the world get pregnant...they dont need to tell their employers that they are pregnant on when they are taking a job as if the employer declines the empolyee of the job, that is called discrimation! i agree with Sush totally!

Anonymous's picture

Sush might be genuine...( at least can be 75% sure), of course Aamir Khan. But Katrin?? Support Ash...a showoff, a lie, a facade...Does she have it in her to comment something intelligent?
Don't care about unfit, old looking looking women like Smriti Irani. She's gone though after her 15 MINS of fame.

Anonymous's picture

Someone wrote here that it's her personal matter....well it's not....cause she is public figure and when you sign a movie you must inform your director almost about anything that would affect the movie. So she should have informed the director that she was even trying to get pregnant. It's very important detail.Someone wrote she was willing to shout the movie before her belly would pump.....well i'm sorry but a movie has other actors too...has program and no one is obliged to follow Aish's program. If she was willing to finish it in few months....that doesn't Madhur could follow Aish's program.I think she should have left the movie for some other actress...and first to give birth to the baby and to shout after a year other movies she signed for 2012.

My beautiful Ash !!!! ;))))))
and look @ all these comments by these big stars saying nice stuff to her..no wonder they praising her so much becuz she is such a beauitful human, unlike the ppl here hu say nasty things to her to make themselves feel better!!!!

Anonymous's picture

Whole nation feels connected to Ash's baby

Anonymous's picture

Ash was willing to finish this movie before the baby bump showed so I don't know what issue was. Women in India work in the fields at 8-9 months as does the domestic help.

Oh that was for 07-03 11:14... 7-02.18:49 is actually me... hehehe

@ bebolover... firstly: THANK YOU! :) I think if everyone took a little extra effort not to lump in all fans of a star, and see people as individuals, that would be awesome! But please don't feel bad, and don't feel like I singled you out... truth is, I have asked on many occasions of others here the same favour. And don't feel like you can't express yourself about Aishwarya... that was not my point at all. Of course anyone should feel free to give their opinion on any star, just like anyone else should feel free to disagree with others' opinion!

And yes, for the record, I do think it's cowardly for someone commenting as "Anonymous" to attack me and call me names, or say that my opinion is not valid... and of course their brilliant reason being: BECAUSE I'M AN "ASH FAN"! ... see where this is going? It's all connected. ;)

@ 7-02.18:49... Nope, I don't post as Anonymous. I have already covered this before, and explained my reasons why I feel so strongly about it. Honestly I don't understand what some people see in certain stars either. But if you don't like the star, why do you have to dislike all the fans too, or paint them with the same brush ? Don't you think you could be missing out on some good friends by dissing all the fans of a particular star? You may find that we are not all so "weird and stupid" as you may assume! :)

Anonymous's picture

She deserves to loose that film and yes she was very unprofessional not to tell him she was pregnant before signing sum 1's film which will cost a lot of money to make. I am sure if the table was turned and the Bacchus were making the film they would be annoyed to. It is a Business so how can they sell a film like Heroine if the actress has a bun in the oven she wouldn't look really glamourous and sexy will she.

(Sun, 2011-07-03 11:14 — Anonymous) its me again.....copy pasting just a comment coming from you about "rani mukherji" how low of you to call her a keep of a married man:P as we all know that you ash fans FAMOUSLY itch to degrade rani, salman,SRK and many more and than you dont expect to be called two faced, stupids, jealous and haters and yeah all you!!

Thu, 2011-06-30 18:23 — Kitty
@ "BOLLYWOOD", whose exposed hypocricy are you laughing about? Let us in on the joke dear so we can all laugh along!

@ Makeupcritic, I don't think UTV would dream of letting Rani try to carry a movie like this on her shoulders, her marketability is all but gone. This has nothing to do with a Filmfare poll, but her years away from the public eye, living as the keep of a married man has really hurt her image. And please don't generalize about "the problem with Aish fans"... that's the kind of comment I would expect to see from some of the more uneducated posters here... you seem smarter than that!

Anonymous's picture

For once I am with Aishwarya. You go girl. This is not just about you but any pregnant working woman.

Anonymous's picture

@Sat, 2011-07-02 18:49 — Kitty.... are you trying to act over smart...huh????? how do we confirm that you dont post anonymous comments bashing other celebs and their fans????? and hellooooo....i have read your sarcastic comments abouts fans of other celebs so dont try to act as you are the only decent person in this world... and now dont accept me to check each post and write down your comments here to prove me....and again...if we find ash's fan following weird stupid and all that we have the right to express our feelings just like you have the right to be obedient to ash...right!!

As someone wrote below - can a female astronaut sue NASA is they drop her from a space shuttle mission after they come to know that she is pregnant? Or, can a female athlete risk for a 100 m sprint when she is pregnant?

HEROINE film does not need a pregnant woman. If it were KKHH, KKKG, or even Preity's role in DCH, Madhur won't have been so frazzled. It is about the role.

Can you imagine Vidya Balan as Meghna Mathur in Fashion? Or Shonali, the role played by Kangna? It is THE ROLE. Aish knew that, that is exactly why she kept it hidden because Madhur won't have signed her if he knew that she is pregnant!!!!!

Now the drama for sympathy....

Anonymous's picture

I just don't understand why actors or fans have to defend or judge this matter. It's neither the job or any actor nor the fans to decide about who is right and who is wrong. I personally feel that both aishwarya and Madhur are right in some ways and wrong in some ways. Firstly, Aishwarya Rai has been wrong; she did not inform her director about her pregnancy (she might be having some reasons in mind - but she is 4 months pregnant) but if she was a true fearless actor who could assure her director that she will do a perfect job during her pregnancy, the she should have informed her director. As far as Madhur is concerned, he must be feeling cheated and depressed by the fact that Aishwarya didn't inform him and he came to know thru Amitabh Bachan's tweet. Imagine, you are casting an actress having big project in mind and suddenly u hear this news. I feel Madhur had many dreams for Heroine and that's why he doesn't want to compromise on the same and that's the reason why Kareena could not casted as she wanted too many changes in the script (I'm a kareena's fan). i think madhur canot make an actess doing bold scene smoking when she is pregnant - yes in hollywood al happens but here we are in india. we must understand madhur as well.. we can't just blame only him. even aishwarya is to be bamed. As far as Madhur sacking aishwharya from the film, i agree, this is wrong, because i'm also a woman but Aishwayra should have been honest from the start and this would not have been such a bad situation fr both of them. I can see both are guilty and victims. But we can't go against madhur as he is the ONLY director, who make Girl Oriented Movies, no other director does this. I think too many medias, actors and people are getting involved in this. I think only Ash and Madhur should sit and discuss and find a solution for this instead of so many people getting into this. And the actors, instead of pushing aish to go against madhur, they should reason her and tell both of them to discuss.. That's more professional. No one should judge. Let these 2 sit and discuss as both are to be blamed!!

Not an Ash fan myself, but I support her too. People attacking her should simply get a life. Before being Aishwarya, she is a woman first. A woman is being done injustice. Forget your hatred once and see the truth. x(

@Kitty i actually told them how can your views and of the various other people i had talked to change overnight which i forgot to mention. i didn't direct it at anyone - i never called xyz such as you kitty a hypocrite - i'm speaking from what i've heard and i thought i would share that, maybe i should have been more specific. there are more articles online regarding this situation which you might want to check it out which have comments that clearly question madhur's work. you might feel you don't bash actors and their fans but other people on pinkvilla feel that you do so and they express that and calling anons cowardly because they oppose you? isn't that bashing - judging them?
@msarosh lol
@aishwarya4ever oh please where have i ever defended bebo on pinkvilla when i know she's wrong...i love bebo but i know when she is wrong and i for one will not defend but question her, one thing i especially don't like about her is her catfights with pc - this is the film industry no actor is a god and everyone has their flaws. please tell me do you know aishwarya personally? at least, think about it from different angles. if i don't agree with all you ash fans, no need to attack me. i never accused you of saying that madhur is not a great director. "i don't normally make comments to anyone" - you said it to me because i have an id and had the guts to say something not in favour of aishwarya - why don't you "say" anything to the other many, may i add, people who have not commented in favour of aishwarya.
in the future i will not say anything bad about/against ash or their fans because they are always 100% right - please forgive me, you all are gods that cannot be wrong esp ash, kitty and aishwarya4ever!
@anchal.arya - lol :)

anchal.arya's picture

@bebopclover- hah ha, take care girl, dont agree with me too much.
i agree looks like we have the same outlook abt many things, is it good or bad??LOL

Anonymous's picture

From all the articles I read until now, I come to this conclusion that: Ash was willing to complete it before the bump showed. The director was not ready for that because he was not well-planned to finish the film in 45 days and he wanted more time. Who is to be blamed for this? Why should Ash tell about her pregnancy to him? It's her personal business. It would not have affected anybody had Madhur stuck to the original plan of wrapping it up in 45 days. But looks like he was not professional enough in sticking to his plans. He was rather unorganzied.

Don't like Ash very much, but don't feel like saying anything negative about a woman who's going to be a mother.
But there's no denying that this is a selfish and unprofessional act on her part. She's jeopardizing a movie and the careers and finances of everyone associated with it. Show some grace for once and do the right thing. Really surprised at Sush's reaction. She's a sensible lady and this doesn't sound reasonable coming from her.
When you apply a blanket rule to something like this in the name of feminism, that's when the cause loses value.
I'm a woman myself and there are careers and situations where pregnancy would be inappropriate..a female astronaut headed for a space mission just to cite one.

Anonymous's picture

Omg! CHILL OUT PEOPLE! We ALL should be happy that those artists r in some way supporting Aishwarya, specially Sush n u know what? Maybe Aish got pregnant by MISTAKE n not by plan, we don't know this for sure but there r a 50% of this and that!!!
